I am not trying to judge anyone or talk down about anyone's beliefs. I just really want to know. Why is it that Christians believe that everyone besides them is going to Hell? Why do they find it impossible to believe that maybe, just maybe someone else might be half way right too? I mean other religions have Holy books too, what did they just make them up? I really don't think so. Aren't Christians supposed to be about tolerance and love? Again I'm not judging I believe everyone should believe what they want to. I'm just curious. Enlighten me please. : ) And please don't tell me I'm going to Hell or I need to be saved. I hate when people tell me that. FYI: I am saved because Jesus died for my sins too.

If I have offended anyone you have my deepest apologies and I didn't mean to imply that ALL Christians think this way. I was just wondering why some do. And yes I am saved for those who have told me that I am not.

Because some people believe in their god so strongly that they cant have an open mind that possibly they could be wrong. I am not trying to put anyone down and do not want to be preached at, for Ive been there and done that.
It's just that some people don't want to admit that there could be some other explanation other than their god.

O.K, I am not really really religious, but I was raised to be a Christian. First of all, a real Christian should not believe that every one else is going to hell. The Bible says "Judge not less thee be judged" meaning don't judge anyone else unless you want to be judged that way. As far as some people being different in the world most Christians follow the Bible on what is appropriate or not. However, God is suppose to be love and truth. He is the only one who truely knows your heart and your intentions. I do believe very deeply in God but there is alot of people in the world who make Christians look bad or give a false sense of this religion. True Christians love everyone and try (although not perfectly all the time) to be very open minded. I do not talk down on anyone else's beliefs. Even though I may not agree, I do have respect for everyones right to believe what they want. I just really wish everyone else would have the same respect. Also, I am not preaching BUT you are not saved just because Jesus died you can BECOME saved because he did. You will not just go to heaven because he was crucified. If you really have more interest in this you should really read the Bible.

If ANY religion allowed for the possibility that another religion might be right or even halfway right, then it voids the need for a persons religion. Religion is something that is as deeply rooted as, well, love...or family. Asking a man to re-evaluate his entire life, future, structure and purpose requires much more than a few sentences. Muslims believe the same thing about Christians.

By the way, generalizing is never good. Not all Christians walk around with a sign above their head saying that if you're not Christian you're going to hell. I for instance believe that the Dakota Indians were enlightened by God the same way Christians were. Ignorance and refusal to study other people are two very large reasons why some people act the way they do.

That is why it is their belief. There are so many areas of Christianity, you could be talking about anyone. To sum people up into one category of Christians who believe this, or Christians who believe that would be a completely ignorant way of doing it. Sure some Christians do believe that, but not all. Just because they are Christians does not mean that they are not human. Christians sin as too. I consider myself a Christian and I sin all the time. I certainly don't believe that everyone who doesn't believe exactly the way I do, is going to hell.

If you are saved, then why are you asking this question??
No the Bible does not teach tolerance. Yes it does teach love. If you love someone you will tell them the truth. Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven. No other religion or person will get you to heaven. And if you aren't going to heaven then there is only one other option! What can I say.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

There are millions of religions, but only one way or right way. You need to figure that out and not be frustrated. If you are saved then you have the assurance inside of you that the Holy Spirit lives there and should not be afraid of hell or death. Death is only the bus you take to get home. NO big deal when you have your ticket ready ...

Religion has gotten in the way of spirituality.

What you personally believe and how you practise your beliefs should be a personal choice. It should be that way for every person.

Its organized religion that puts all the rules and ideas into people's heads telling them that they must do this or do that in order to be a "good Christian" or whatever.

I personally can't stand to be witnessed to. I know what I believe and I'm open to discuss various ideas and beliefs but if someone is witnessing. They aren't having an open discussion, they are trying to convince me that what I believe is wrong and what they believe is right.

I just tell them that I am willing to take my chances with my own beliefs when my time comes and would rather not hear it.

Its because the Christian faith is based on Jesus' death and resurrection. If there was another way, He wouldn't have needed to come at all. Does that make any sense? The whole point of his coming is that we needed a way to be saved, and He's it!

Jesus did die for your sins too. If you asked him to save you, then he did. I have no problem believing that. :)

I hope I helped clear it up some

o i just want to add, Christianity IS about love, but is NOT about tolerance. tolerance is something people invented to avoid absolute truth. without being hostile here, i actually find it quite ironic how some people denounce Christianity in the name of tolerance, dont you?

The reason Christians believe that is because that is what we have been taught, and we were never smart enough to check it out ourself. The truth is; most people on this planet are suffering some kind of hell already. Hell is not what people think it is, it was actually being in Adam (fallen humanity) and Jesus defeated that. In fact the Bible says that in His resurrection from Adam He defeated death, hell and the grave, which all three of those aspects of hell are Adam (all born after Adam) in his fallen state. There is no such thing as hell as the Church teaches. Jesus did not say He came to get us to heaven; He said He came to bring life and life more abundanlty. Because the main stream Church wants to die or fly to go to heaven, they are missing out on the life that now is. I have much teacahing on my web page that can help you; if you wish to study the Bible with understanding and clarity, check out www.treeoflifeok.com.
We are told in the Bible to preach Jesus Christ and Him Crucified and our uinon with Him, which is the Gospel; but yet most sermons you hear are about a "devil," a "rapture, "money" or what's wrong in the earth; none of those subjects will help anyone. We need to learn of Christ and our union with Him.
Jesus actually became everything that Adam had become in his fall, and bore all the judgment that was due the whole world. He loves everyone and only wants us to accept His gift of salvation. Saved means made whole spirit, soul and body; no one, as of yet is saved spirit, soul and body. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour then you are saved in your spirit, and hopefully are being saved in your soul (mind, will and emotions), and then, will be saved in your body.

I'm not christian.

The answer is short and sweet, it's what the bible says. If you read the bible cover to cover and believe in it. Logically you are forced to expel everyone else in to hell.

Some Christians are wishy washy on the whole everyone but christian go to hell, but they really don't know what they are talking about. Mostly they are trying to get money (that's been my experience any way).

Few people have read the bible with a focus on logic, and this causes many people many problems.

Christians believe in Jehovah God as the only true god and that Jesus Christ was His son. Other world religions have others that they follow, be it Buddah or Allah, or human intelligence. So if you are saying that the "intolerance" is with other religions, that may be why. As far as Christians being critical of other Christian groups that is in my opinion, a hypercritical error of many people. I am glad that it is not my job to judge others and will be happy to leave those decisions up to God.
