Somewhat, it appears to be aproduct of an earlier time. In the New Testament, however, it seems as if the women become increasingly more prominent. And let's not forget Ruth, or was it Esther, whom God deemed fit to be a judge in the OT. No, I don't believe Eve is to blame for everything that went wrong. My own church is Presbyterian, here in Bakersfield. I will perhaps shock you, but I call myself a gnostic Christian, "one who knows, and cannot be shaken from off of his positions." You are a beautiful child of God, and I cherish your answers to my questions.

This is a good observation on your part. Yes, the Bible is sexist. It is the record of a group of people wherein the males dominated the society. Literally, males all but owned a female family member. The Bible was written by men about a male dominated society. So, yes, it is sexist. But look for the message, and don't look at the content. The content will drive you nuts. The message will bring you peace and understanding, as will any well written book with a spiritual message.

Women and men are good at different things. Up until a short while ago, a woman's natural place was thought to be in the home. (Which, yes, it is. It actually should be that way. There is nothing wrong with women working, but they sorta have to remember that they must also take care of their families. Men aren't very good at playing motherly roles.) If, for example, Jesus had been a women, she would not have been taken as seriously- not because she was a female, but because they wouldn't think it was her place to be preaching. Also, it does preach for men to be faithful to their wives and families, and the other way around, so no-I don't find it sexist.

The only reason the Bible is saying that is the women represent the bride (the church) while the men represent the groom (God), so the Bible was only saying that to show how Christians should act to God. I am not saying that the Bible does say anything about women but if it did we should obey it and the same goes around if it said anything about men because it is God's Word (the truth).

Sure do! It seems that it is a book set out to demonize women in many ways. Mary Magdalene was turned into a whore when she wasn't, what she was was Jesus' most trusted apostle. It did it to other women as well. Paganism ruled before Christianity and there top deities were all Goddesses and women. Christianity turn it around to do away with the old belief systems.

Does anyone find the Bible to be sexist and womanizing?
No. you will find that the Bible teaches to honor and respect women.
unfortunately, men have for along time abused position, and physical prowess to subjugate women not to mention claiming God ordained it to be.

Yes, but for a reason. And you can thank a woman for that.
Adam and Eve were created equal EVE committed the first sin, and than coerced Adam into it to.
Her punishment from God was that womankind would forever be subversive to men. Her father would rule he, her husband would rule her, she would be quite in church. Also have pain in childbirth.
Thanks Eve.

It seems like it, but God did use women throughout the Bible a lot for His mighty works and miracles. Like Sarah. and esther, and ruth. So He loves everyone all the same.

I believe women should get the same respect as men, maybe even more. For those men, such as mr. mainworry there, who believe that women are below men, then you are totally wrong, and probably misunderstanding the Bible. We are all equal
