I recently moved into a 2nd story apartment and my downstair's neighbor's cat seems to have pre-claimed my porch, door and window. The cat itself isn't annoying as much as the spraying it leaves behind.
I have tried the white vingar thing and that only worked for a little bit. The real kicker is that the cat gets on my porch, onto my railing and then jumps across to a second story window -- only to spray it!!
I haven't been able to "catch" the cat doing it but prior to the first spraying, I did see the cat at the window.
I am limited since this is an apartment (no hose to shoot at the cat and I don't want to cause waves with my neighbor)
Help!!!!!!

~I've had the same problem. What works for me is to mark the territory. You will have to pee on the window sills, balcony and wherever else tabby likes to tool. You will have to repeat the process weekly, but it's worth the effort.

All the answers of spraying or sprinkling something are good, you just have to try different things until you find out what the cat doesn't like. And always put new stuff out since the wind and rain will clear it away. The water gun is a good idea too, but you have to be consistant and it may take a few times for the cat to get it. Try making loud noises to frighten it, you'll have to repeat this too, eventually the cat will to scared to go to that same spot.

First talk to the owner, then the landlord, then call the the pound. No one will know who called the pound. If the owner wont keep the cat indoors or at least under controll the obviously don't care.

get a spray bottle and spray the cat with it gently. you don't need to hurt it as cats don't like water sprayed on them. if the cat comes back, spray it again. keep on doing this until the cat learns that it will get sprayed if it comes there. your problem will soon go away.

This may seem odd...by my cats seemed to hate the smell of toothpaste. They would sit and watch me brushing my teeth and if they smelled my toothpaste...they would run away and make a face. Maybe spread a little tooth paste near where they like to hang out?

Lemon juice will keep a cat away- they hate the smell of citrus. My cats have literally backed off tables to get away from me trying to pet them when I've been handling lemons.

Try using one of the many animal repellents out there. I have used Get off my Garden to stop my cat from peeing all over my flower box!

try orange peels. cats supposedly do not like the smell. unless of course this one does.

please do not go to the extent of poisoning it or using antifreeze - what a horrible thing to do to an animal. not the animal's fault that is is allowed to be loose.

Where the cat jumps try to put something there to keep it from going there. Try to use gasoline or tabasco sauce. Cats are very prepy animals they try not to get dirty. Get something that stinks or would burn them.
