I'd check out David's Bridal - I had a great luck there for my bridesmaid dress' and my colors were silver and purple. They had a great selection!

Why don't you try going to Yahoo or Google and type in a search for evening gowns? You'll find a lot more formal gowns than if you do a search for bridesmaid's gowns.

Dark purple is usually easier to find than lavender ( as I"m finding out.) Try amazon.com. Egowns.com
