I have been scrolling through religious section of this site and it made me wonder if there is anyone else here that thinks the same way I do regarding religion.

Here is what I believe.

I believe there is a god and that god is a single being.i.e I do not believe in the trinity.

I believe that christianity, judaism and islam have the same origin.

I do not however believe in organised religion, that is to say I will not say I am a christian, a jew or a muslim. It is my contention that in following organised religion many have been distracted from the truth.

Instead I have chosen to read the texts which exist and to form my own opinion . I have also chozen to worship in the way I see fit as is ascribed by the texts which through my own understanding appear to be the truth.

As a result I do not feel I have the right to judge others (though at times I do for I am a product of societies norms).

In accoradance with these beliefs I do not believe in the death penalty.

Critiques?

My issue with the death penalty is perhaps more of an economic one than a religious one. I may explain my views on the topic at some point.

I recently left Christianity, and I have thought along similar lines.

However, the fact is, that without a text of some sort, or without God revealing Himself or Herself, anything that I perceive God to be is really no more than me making Him (or Her, whatever) up as I go along.

Here's what I currently believe...

There's probably a God, and there might not be.

God is probably much like we are and like nature is... emotional and rational all at once.

There is no hell. No absolute evil and no absolute good. If there's a heaven, it's probably more like an eternal acid trip than eternal ecstacy. (pardon the pun)

I talk to God in case He's listening. Can't hurt, and it helps me sort things out in my head even if He's not listening. Kind of like meditation does.

I believe that any God who would create such a vast existence would want us to enjoy it by asking questions, seeking answers, exploring the creation, and experiencing life to the fullest.

Jesus was a really cool guy, as were other religious figures, prophets, saviors, etc. I believe in many of the teachings... love, forgiveness, not judging someone's heart, etc. You don't have to believe Jesus is God to accept his wisdom. You don't even have to believe he existed to learn from the gospels and indeed much of the Bible.

You are more than what I've been looking for in a woman. Too bad I don't know you.

I do relate to you on religion being originated as the same. I'm a Muslim and also feel that every religion has the same meaning and background just people got caught up in being a superior believer than the other. G-d do exist and for that he will be real angry when He calls us back and get the explaining how Man makes mistakes such as misunderstanding what was said to him....All his creations are the same no matter what they may believe. He created man to worship him and only not separate others into a self proclaimed truth ( i.e Jesus is the son of G-d or or women should have their face's covered or marry four wives)

I often feel like the plan he had for us is lost and He will create a better life once again.

{or try if we don't f*** it up...again}

You have you're own mind. Good. People who think long enough see that justice can get blocked, shanghaied. Also, thinkers see Mankind for what it is truly.Don't second-guess for long. Respectable mind can join with yours and fight to tip the scales back if you have it in you (otr as a group) to mke an effort. Thinking is good, just don't strain or listen to bullshit anymore. You can magnify yourself under a God's preservation through what you believe.

100% in agreeance. Wait...99%. I do believe in the death penalty. That has nothing to do with judging others. I don't think. Their ultimate judge will be God.

You are getting there. Keep asking and learning. Do not be like most people and close your mind. Religion and I mean all of them are creations of man to control the masses.

yes. judaism and christianity have a common influence from zorostrianism.
in turn, islam was influanced by zorostrianism through judaism and christianity.

i also believe that god is one; and that we are all one and that there is no need for organized religion because god is in us all. no label is the best label, but it is convieniant to have a label to refer to for referance sake.

you're beautiful.

Right on! Whatever you want to believe in, you go right ahead and believe it! I am constantly copping slack off one of my devout Catholic friends for my fusion of Catholicism and Buddhism.
