Perhaps there are other dynamics at play among the users of this category. Your question and your responses have more of a moral approach, ie. you look for the positive; you wish to reason and extract some compassion because, after all, they (Mexicans) are from Planet Earth (humans).
Unfortunately, the responses from the general users of this forum resort to a stereotype of the Mexican population. We say Mexican, because we don't hear any other race being discussed here. Do you honestly think they would stop labeling the Mexicans if their status is LEGAL? We think it's a great excuse to hide behind the "we are not against Mexicans, we are against Illegal Mexicans." The focus is race, on prejudice, and aimed at how every American's tax dollars go to subsidize the illegals. The truth is most of the kiddie generations on this post don't have a job; the truth is their IQ level is not emtionally suited to deal with the differences that makes the world go round. What's more, the working population of America will pay their accountants to pay as little tax as possible. Most of it is parroting what is in the news or what the kiddies hear at home. If the likes of the hadenoughs and sugarpies ran the world of International affairs, God help us all.
So to answer your basic question, is there more to this? Of course, it is bigotry in denial! And we will call them out when we see it, because some one has to remind the sugars of the vinegar they spew in the name of opinion, free speech and being so very American!-- all the while creating a problem when one does not exist and then ask "Who, me?" (hadenough).
Approaching anything "emotionally correct" is the ticket to avoiding conflict.
Some things never change and there will always be people justifying their behavior. It takes courage for people to tell themselves the truth, and insecurity prevails in the category of IMMIGRATION posts. Stay positive in your EMPATHETIC approach and keep provoking the cerebral processes!
Additional comment:
Well, well, we told you they would bite; and the focus continues to be deep and thought provoking: pants down? pants up? is that like "inhale" -- "exhale"? had enough fruitcake?
Love, Brittany!

Illegal aliens has nothing to do with Racism and the Race card. It has everything to do with an individual breaking the law to get into this country.
Legal Immigration is welcomed! Matter of fact, the Legal Hispanics that are here do not want the illegals here because they did not pay their dues and time to get in properly.

It is usually played from the bottom of the deck....
And yes, it is about illegal immigration. However the result is excessive immigration, and it is the impacts of that that apparently drive people to truly unpleasant statements.
Peace....
rukidding... yes, that is what WE point out whenever people say that we can only be against illegal immigration if we are racists. What race is 'illegal'?

It gets played when someone disagrees with enforcing our laws. For some silly reason, people think the demand for enforcement is against a single group, thereby they begin their slurs.
The whole problem is that it has nothing to do with race, it has to do with demanding that our laws be obeyed. Whether a person is from Mexico, Russia, Sweden or Pakistan, if they have broken our laws by entering illegally or remaining beyond their time limit, we're demanding they be called to task.

Some people read the word "illegal alien" as (insert a race here).
It is unfortuanate and costly to U.S. taxpayers to have illegal aliens draining on social services of the United States. It is deplorable that some people think illegal aliens have the right to disregard our laws because low wage jobs exist in the United States. It is equally deplorable that U.S. businesses hire illegals to shave costs and increase profits.
Who cares what race the illegal immigrants belong to? No one likes law violators regardless of their genetics.

I still have not seen the "race card" being used by Mexicans. I see the post's all the time on here that they have though. If they do, it looks like they have plenty of reasons to use it, if answers is a portrayal of American society which it seems to be...

Regardless of what people want it to be about or need it to be about, it is about illegal immigration, and the sheer volume of it. If you are entering the counttry by illegal means, the chances are that you are a low skilled individual. The days of "give us your huddled masses" are over. We are up to our asses in huddled masses. The times have changed, and what is needed is skilled capable people able to support themselves.
Mexicans who have entered by legal means, and learned the language and customs are productive members of society. Welcome! Speak Spanish at home, celebrate your customs, have parades, but be willing to grow enough to be an addition to our society. I think the perceived lack of enthusiasm by Mexican immigrants to do just that is what get folks riled up. Not their skin color or heritage.
I feel no compulsion to support a person with social services, schooling, etc.who comes by way of illegal means. Doesn't mean I hate them.

For many reasons
They use it because they have no other reason to win their debate
Because they are Angry
Because it is true
To make a strong point
Often as in this issue it is misused.
And Yes Barb-Move on the others did. You got hit with what you did. You answered foolishly. It happens. It was a good test. Take your poison somewhere else.
