It is a cultural thing.

Who defines what is underaged, and why?

The reason the USA has the highest in the world legal age of 21 is because federal government used road funding to encourage states to raise the age. This was doen for the best motives -- too many teenage drivers were having accidents while drunk.

But it means that non-drivers, and all those responsible adults aged under 21 are affected by the actions of a stupid few.

And lets face it -- its a pretty incomprehensible for us outside the USA - to see why American adults of 18 who can marry, have children and fight and die for their country can't go into a bar and have a beer.

Of course, federal government could have used the same logic and banned under 21s from driving.

So my answer is 'no', I don't think it is wrong.

I think the supervision thing makes it wrong. Teenagers have been drinking for thousands of years. I mean, the behaviors in each generation doesn't change. What our grandparents did, our parents did, and what are parents did, we did, so that isn't really the problem.

The problem is, people think that more teenagers are drinking than ever before, but that isn't correct. Percentage wise will be close to the same as in the 70's, or it could of been higher in the 70's, don't know, I was born in the early 80's. But, with more people in this world means that the population of criminal activities will go up. Percentage of these activities won't go up because I believe there is only a selective few that seeks these kind of activities.

it gives the underaged the impression that this is the only way to party. make sure activities offered to the "kids" are fun and varied. let the "kids" see that adults aren't all a bunch of drunks and do other things like ball games and bowling, movies, family nights with games...

who are the people supervising? adults? shame on them!

I think it is only acceptable for teenagers to drink under the supervision of their PARENTs. Like for a special occasion having a glass of wine would be ok.

Definitely, and specially if you are being supervised. Drinking just ruins your life, you might not realize it yet, but you'll regret it soon. Also if you drink and you're being supervised, that means the people supervising you need to know more about drinking.

Sounds corny but it's true.

Definitely! There's a reason why there's a law for underaged drinking. Teenagers' brains aren't fully developed to handle alcohol, even if they think they are.

no. they're going to do it, like it or not. I think parents should let their kids drink if properly supervised. that way, when they get people to buy them alcohol, they don't drink themselves to death cause they think its cool. if their parents let them, it kind of takes away the "cool" part.
