Drink lots of liquid. You may have to try some sort of laxative or see your doctor. That's an awful long time to be poopless.

Hi! Water would be very helpful......but hot clear vegetable soup broth would be better because of the heat and the water content plus the naturally occurring fiber from the veggies. I don't know where you live but if there is a Trader Joes in your area, the vegetable broth by IMAGINE is awesome stuff! It comes in a carton and is about 4 cups for $1.99 (If I remember correctly). Any healthy veggie broth will do but this is the best tasting one. Chicken broth wouldn't do the same thing...please stick to veggie broth. Also, you can massage your pelvis area and/or take a hot bath. Heat improves circulation. Hope you feel better. Try not to eat too much solid food until you've been cleaned out because it will only add to the build up.

P.S. Your back pain might easily be related to this condition.

you should see a doctor. You really should not have waited that long. On average 3 days. You may not be drinking enough water, or maybe not eaten enough or too many of the wrong foods. If you don't like to take laxatives eat a lot or fruit, but I really really think it's time for you to see your doctor PRONTO. I hope you're not having a lot of back and hip pain because of this. If you get too backed up you will end up in the hospital, it could poison you, pooping is a way to get rid of toxins in the body and in the food you eat

You really need quick relief, and laxative with a stool softener is the best bet at this time. You should talk to a doctor as soon as possible, also. It wouldn't be a good thing if you were to develop a blockage.
You will most probably be advised to increase the fiber in your diet. Adult fiber intake should be at least 30 grams per day. Here's to your new diet!!!

Awww you poor little thing. I hate that.. been there and done it. it sucks..

FIRST:

Stay away from cheese..

Next get some stool softeners from any Drug store.. Less than $4.00.. Drinks lots of liquids with them. They take the liquid and use it to soften the poop so it can come out.. Make take a day or so to work but they work very well.

Now eat more vegetables and fruits and fiber and drink lots more liquids, and take a 20 minute walk everyday.. Start out with a five minute walk and work up to a 20 minute walk.. Walk everyday. cold or hot, rain, You need to exercise to help push poop thru..

Hugs from Texas, God Bless {:-)

I read all the other comments and I would add to all the diet comments that you get exercise every day. Try walking if nothing else. The more exercise the better. And make sure that you are drinking lots of fluids.

If you have commpacted feces, you may have to use an enima to help get your system back on track.

YES! I went to a specialist b/c my doctor did not give me anything useful. I can not remember the name of it!!
It is a powder that comes in a white bottle. It is tasteless and odorless and you mix it with water, tea or whatever. It is a prescription and it does work. I was in so much pain and I thought I was going to die. THis problem went on for about a month or so. I tried everything and nothing else worked, so go to your doctor and get them to call in a referral to see the specialist. You will be helped then.

My health food lady recommended magnesium. So I take 500 mg morning, afternoon and evening. Supposedly, magnesium helps the bowel relax. Also, large amounts are not supposedly harmful.

I cannot say I have had any bad side effects, and it does help.

When it gets really bad, I take a teaspoon of virgin olive oil orally. That really greases the skids, and it does not taste too horrible.

if u havn't pooped for a week you should REALLY use laxatives. or u can use enema (which i don't recommend cose its REALLY uncomftorable and i know you won't like it)
other recommendations are to drink a LOT of water, eat PRUNES PRUNES PRUNES and lots of fruits. and if the poop still doesn't get out, u should REALLY use laxatives because they really help. and next time, please don't wait a whole week long and then get help!

good luck!

I have IBS with constipation. I am becoming immune to lax. I have tried Bran bars, and 'bowl buddy' cookies. Stool softeners. Herbal remedies. I am now customizing my diet. You could try Zelnorm, but it only helped for awhile, that is a perscription.
