I passionately wanted to put up my own photo exhibition in Hong Kong for a period of 5 days. Proceeds will go to a charity foundation. Where and how can I get free venue and sponsporship? I want to hold it on 19-23Jul. Apart from getting a venue, setting a date, what other things I should do and look out for?

It'll be hard to get a free venue unless it's in a public park or something similar. The best option is to call local venus and explain what you are going to do and that you do plan on donating to a local charity (even offer to have them pick the charity if they do it for free).

The next option is to figure out how long the exibit will be open for on each day. And when you plan on opening your exhibit. You want it to be open during peak hours when you will get the most visitors.

Next is to make sure all your photos are in nice frames, don't have any dust, no scratches, etc. Also figure out how you are going to display them. Easels, hangin them on walls, placing them on tables, etc. Because next you have to figure out where you are going to get the items to display your photos on.

Also, figure out the layout of the exhibit. Whethere it's going to be a nice circular layout, rectangular layout, or just a straight line with images on both sides.

Make sure that no matter what layout you choose, it doesn't cause congestion. You don't want a blockade of people in one spot keeping other people from going through the exhibit.

Are you going to offer refreshments? Something small like drinks or small sandwiches.

How are you going to decide on pricing? Will all the proceeds go to a charity or will you be nice and give like 10% to the venue who is letting you do it for free?

Also, what kinda marketing are you going to use? Word of mouth... radio... tv... flyers...

Those are just some of the ideas you have to come up with. If you can have an answer to all of the above, you'll be 98% ready to put on your show. The other 2% is just ambition.
