Because they are still illegally occupying a foreign country.

The same reason that in May - 79 troops were killed & 431 wounded, In Nov. 2004 - 141 troops were killed & 1425 Nov. 2004.

It sounds like a turning point to me. Sounds like less attacks - have you been watching CNN - the Communist News Network again.

Mr. Bush is an elected official an has to court public opinion. I do not. I have always assumed that there would be an increase in activity when one of the principles is captured or killed. It leaves a power vacuum, with the all those who wish to replace him attempting to prove themselves.

Our troops are still being shot because there are still people who wish to mock, demoralize and eliminate any one who does not bow to their brand of Islam. The coalition troops are at a distinct disadvantage as the terrorists think nothing of the lives of their own people, and use them (and discard them) as it fits their purpose. This leads to the greater possibility of casualties as well, as they are banking on people with a sense of Western morality to hesitate and exercise caution for the sake of non-combatants.

It is a war. In a war, every war, people get shot. Combatants, non-combatants, the innocent. For some perspective, consider this: At the Battle of Gettysburg in July of 1864, right here in Pennsylvania, some 50,000 men were killed, wounded or captured in three days. This is a staggering casualty rate.(casualties means "anyone who deserted, was captured, missing, wounded, or killed. In essence, if a soldier was not present during muster, he could likely be counted as a casualty.")
By comparison, our casualties in Iraq are very low. Nearly a third - a THIRD - of General Lee's Army was hurt or killed, or around 23,000 men. Nearly 25,000 Union men were casualties. 6-7000 of these on both sides were killed. If there was a battle today with those kinds of casualties, roughly 30% of combatants,l our public would be shocked beyond belief. The casualty rate you mention above also easily happened in one minute on the beaches of Normandy.
Even though I do not like war, and do not like us being in Iraq, it is well that we remember that despite the poor public reasoning for us going there, it very much was a result of the Sept 11th terrorist attacks. I also refer those who are currently doubtful that getting rid of Saddam was a good thing to the article
"Saddam's Road to Hell" at http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/stories/iraq501/events_index.html
(YES my conservative friends at PBS! OH NO!)

Simple because there is still an insurgency in Iraq, that not only targets soldiers, but also innocent civilians who just want to rebuild and work and live their lives. How many US Soldiers do you hear of cutting off heads? None!! And do you know why? Because this sort of sick behavior is reserved for radical peoples who support brutal regimes that would happiley ram a plane into your office building or cut the heads off you and your familey if they were given that chance.

Iraq has tranformed into a training ground for terrorists. It doesn't matter if important people dies, the war will continue to rage on until US troops leave Iraq.

If there were foreign troops occupying your country, wouldn't you fight to get rid of them?

Just because we got one of the big boys over there doesn't mean the war is over. You know that. I've noted that you don't often mention the civilian casualties. Don't you care about them? I'm sure the insurgents aren't without their own casualties as well. If they find them, they shoot them or blow them to hell. Don't you care about your own image? Don't you care about how people look at you? What is your problem? Get yourself some help.

Its combat and yes troops do get killed even when a top terrorist leader gets killed. You are very bloody naive if you think that the shooting will stop because of that!

Yea, and the United States lost 295,000 soldiers (!) in WWII. In wars, some soldiers are killed. Did you know that?

Because this is a war and people get killed in wars.
