Your mother may be going through menopause...Women go through it at various ages but usually not until close to 50...Also, she could be experiencing side effects from a medication...What can you do to get your relationship back on track? Confide in her about how you feel when she acts this way...Try to find out why "freaking out" is a part of her personality, now..Try to be understanding...

Emotionally unstable is pretty harsh, perhaps your growing and shut her out more, and dont realize. She probley has alot going on your not aware of and maybe she could use a friend, try being understanding and talk to her about how she may be feeling for a change. Sometimes moms just need an understanding ear.
Be kind.

Sounds like your mom has some emotional difficulties. That's too bad for both of you. If you can try to take to a therapist about this. If your mom won't pay or let you go talk to your guidance counselor or school nurse about helping you find someone that you can go to. Good luck.

Are we siblings bc you just described my mother! I'm assuming you still live under her roof, and in this case its even harder. Best advice I can give you is to just make it through the best you can! You know how easy it is to set her off and you know you can't sit down and tell her what bothers you bc she wont have it. So, just avoid the things that set her off and in the mean time build your patience! Once your out and on your own, you are in control and can let her in on as much of your life as you wish
Good luck and hang in

Your mom is "your mom" no matter what her condition. Be patient with her but if she shows signs of forgetfullness or dillusions, call her physician. Tell your friends and family to be a bit more respectful. I went through a time with my mom and we found later ... there was a reason. I miss her.

So if everyone thinks she is crazy, why is noone offering to help or possibly even getting help for her. She may know how she is,but not know how to ask or where to turn for help. Isn't there an adult who is extremely close to her that can help? Maybe if you voice your concerns seriously someone will listen.
