No, you don't have to. Its nice that you already have, but they accept donations without assessing its condition (unless you want a receipt for your taxes.) Even so, I have purchased many things from Goodwill that obviously had not been laundered (paper in pockets, stains, etc.) and I always wash them before wearing.

We donate to Goodwill and we have always washed clothing before sending it in. The notion of a warehouse full of unwashed clothing is pretty repugnant! Pity the people who would have to work there!
If you washed them a month ago and packed them into a bag, why would you need to wash them again?

If they were already washed and have been sealed in a bag, they're not dirty and you could take them to Goodwill. You might want to check for mildew damage, though, just in case any moisture got inside--and check for moth damage, too, if you have woolen items. Also, I'm pretty sure that second-hand stores are required to launder clothing items before putting them on the rack. The Goodwill webpage is below, if you need more info. :o)

out of common courtesy it would be nice to have the clothes washed. just because many people go there and put the clothes on directly after purchasing them. you really don't have to, but, I do just as a common courtesy. the people who work at goodwill tell me that they are able to actually get more money for clothes that have been washed because they have a better appearance to those that are looking to buy clothes at the store.

Look at it this way - if there is moisture in the fabric when you put the clothes in a plastic bag for collection, they might sit for a long time before they get put on the rack and get moldy.
If no one has worn the clothes, it's probably fine. I don't mind putting on clothes that were washed a month ago.

I don't think freshly laundered cloths is a prerequisite for good charity. If they are going to be in storage for awhile, try putting a dryer sheet in to freshen them up a bit. If they are mildewy just throw them away because it will contaminate clothes that are not.
Giving is a good thing, so God Bless YOU.

If you went to a store, would you want to get dirty clothes?
Of course you should give them clean, non-stained items! What good are clothes that no one wants or can wear?
