I think it is good that she likes it. It is her opinion. You have yours I'm sure. English is not the official language and I dont think we should have one.

Speaking as a Hispanic American I say that any immigrant to the United States of America should learn English and all government test like a drivers license should be in the queens English. Taking the Citizenship test should only be in English. Now on the other hand this is America and we should speak what ever we want. We live in a county where the president tells us that to hate is American and Patriotic. How much do you want to bet that Shereelynn likes to eat Chulupas by the dozen. Its OK if she gets them to go and eats them in her trailer park

I already answered your other question; I think it is specious.

I think immigrants should learn English. If I moved to another country I wouldn't expect them to let me replicate my home culture there, I would adapt to theirs. Even when I travel for pleasure I do my best "when in Rome" to do as the natives do.

One of the reasons there is so much resentment over illegal immigrants is that our legal immigration rate is gradual enough to encourage assimilation into our home culture. That is one of the purposes of making it a gradual rate. (Another is the expense of subsidizing services for the poor, and the fact that even with funds schools and trained teachers don't magically appear where most needed.)

The huge influx of illegals has been a big part of keeping localities like mini versions of the countries people left to come here. That is why people liken it to an invasion. It is a significant change in culture imposed on us from the outside against our will.

It is a big reason why amnesty is having such a hard time finding popular acceptance.

I think immigration is the best thing for america as it pumps in new blood, but it has to be done legally. Also I believe there is a deep dark and sinister force bent on undermining everything that is good and wholesome in this country while the government is asleep at the wheel. They are making immigration more and more difficult for law abiding would be immigrants in good standing with a good education (I can name many cases) while they embrace and wish to assimilate diseased, criminal and uneducated "strangers" who come here for the wrong reasons. Besides, when your first act upon ariving on this soil is to break the law......that makes you a criminal. Legal immigrants who brake the law are subject to deportation and these people are cajoled. Do we really need anymore tomato pickers?

This is America. Our forefathers fought a war for us to be free on this soil. The native language here is English. IF our forefathers had been of Spanish or Mexican heritage then things would be different,,but this is an English speaking country. IF you come to a country to be one of its citizens LEARN TO BEHAVE LIKE A CITIZEN OF THAT COUNTRY. Practice YOUR heritage in the freedom of YOUR home,,,,,but do not FORCE us to learn YOUR language or CUSTOMS.

The anthem of this country AN ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY needs to remain in ENGLISH.

I am 99% sure that those Spanish or Mexican speaking countries have their own anthem,,,,,,,,we are not asking for it to be done in ENGLISH.

If people want to translate it, fine, let them. But NOT rewrite it to mean something else, which is what that British guy did when he rewrote it in Spanish. He changed the words.
My opinion of Condi Rice went down when she said she didn't think it was wrong.
But, it's her opinion and she can have it.

The words were changed. The new words in spanish mock and taunt US citizens. For example, it asks if the flag is still there. The REAL national anthem says the flag is still there. Their version basically says that the US citizens are fighting against their invasion but is their flag really still there, not in words but it infers it.
