You,could always make up some business cards with a cute logo on it,and hand them out at the mall, with women or men with children, and approach them in this manner. Set,up a formal interview,so they can get to know you, first.(Not anybody is going to let a perfect stranger with their children). Or,offer to come around while they are present to see how they (their children react to you). Church's have allot of children, you can hand out your cards there. Post, your request at Supermarkets, and tell them what you are interested in,and word of mouth is great too

working at a camp is a great idea. The kids like you and then the parents will ask for you.
word of mouth is another great idea. Find someone you know with kids and tell them that you'll babysit for two Friday nights for FREE if they recommend you to 5 friends. It works!
take a babysitting class at the red cross or YMCA and get certified. It is a good thing to have.
Place flyers in places where parents frequent- the library, schools, and at day cares.
good luck!

If you want to babysit in your area then the best idea is to advertise in the newspaper. I would think that most parents read the paper on a daily basis and would see your ad.

I'm not sure, but I posted a question, about needing a babysitter on here, about a month ago. And all I got were jerks saying stupid things like, "I hear that Michael Jackson is free." Pissed me off, so I withdrew my question. Hope that you have better luck.

you could check with local pediatricians office and offer a flyer for services and also...try the hospital...new moms love babysitters that are first aid and cpr certified...when we went through our lamaze classes we were given lots of handouts...about services in town...but no babysitters!!
good luck!

Call your local chrches and see if they can post a notice in their newsletters or on a bulletin board. Also, check with Elemntary schools and local child care centers. They have bulletin boards where you could post a notice with your picture.

Craigslist.com, newspaper, church, and friends/family. It's important that you have a resume of some kind though, or at least some references.
There’s always someone around that wants to get rid of his or her kid for a while.
