Pay Scales for airline (commercial) pilots in the US vary by type of aircraft, years with a particular company, and if a pilot is a Captain (command of an aircraft), or co-pilot (second in command).

My favorite site for the particulars pay scales based on aircraft fleet, position, and airline is: http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com

The site list over 100 US commercial airlines with pilot salaries.

While you didn't ask, there is one other thing to consider... what it costs to get there.
You don't just go to school, graduate and become a 'commercial pilot' flying for a major airline.

First there is school, which isn't cheap.
Now you are a pilot, but with no experience. You take any job you can just to build hours, pay isn't the issue. Like peanut butter?
Now you have some hours, but not enough for the majors. So you step up to something like a cargo plane. Now at least you can afford to eat.

You have now invested tons of money and time, and if you are lucky you might get hired. Of course you will be so low on the list, that you will have to look to see bottom. Last hired, first to get laid off.

Do your math, those high looking numbers aren't so hot after all.

On the other hand, if you love it...

It used to be realy high before 9/11. Senior pilots with delta were making about $250,000 a year! Now the money has gone away for the most part. Now I think its probably ranging fron 50-100k a year, sometimes more.

Delta 777 pilots used to make in excess of 269k a year. Some pilot jobs are pretty cheap paying, like Northwest airlink Saab-340's pay at 30k!!!

Not sure but last I heard a Senior Capitan fro United before (/11
was topped at 300,000.00 , but since them I'm sure its lower to keep the company afloat. When your starting out as a flight instucter , maybe 15.00hr. and that not a forty hr week. Thats why I couldn't go that route . I didn't have enought to live on.
I'm not Married. Very tough at the bottum. It may take 10 yrs of that lousy pay to get enogh flight time.
