did you let it grow for, say, a year without cutting it at all.. or did you get regular trims like every 6-8 weeks?

I only get trims about every three to four months and I never worry about it. I usually get it done when I get it highlighted. I have had long hair for most of my life so it is not a big issue to me.

If you want to grow your hair long, then do not cut it.!!!!!
Hair grows from the ROOT and the ends have nothing to do with that. Use conditioner and spray treatments to keep your hair healthy. If you have a nasty old perm growing out or it looks fried for some other reason, then cut it off to that part so than you can live with your look and then let it grow out. Otherwise, do not cut it. When it gets to where you like it, trim it up nicely to even it out and you can always add layers to your hair during that growing out process. Just be sure and don't cut your longest layer b/c that would defeat the purpose. I hope your hair looks great. Don't give up when it is that in between phase. :)

Pss.. My husband had a short regular hair cut and he let it grow out after our wedding and has not had a hair cut since then. It has grown about 10-11 inches in 18 months. He uses hair products, hats, and washes it almost daily. HE is living proof not to cut your hair if you want it to grow fastly.

I get mine trimmed every other month, about 12 weeks. I think that 6-8 weeks is really soon, but 15 weeks is too long a wait, especially a year. It makes your hair grow longer and healthier when you get it cut.

For the health of your hair and wanting longer her you should get a trim about every 8 to 12 week. This helps the growth of your hair.

It is best to get trims to prevent split ends. I let mine grow for 4 years with only little trims before cutting it all off and donating it to "Locks of Love". I was able to give 15 inches and still have a fair amount left on my head.

Get trims, because it makes your hair grow better and prevents split ends. It may seem that you're just cutting off what took so long to grow, but it's benefits because it doesn't make your hair look like a piece of crap xD

I got it trimmed you don't want all kinds of split ends the longer you leave them the higher the split goes the more you'll have to cut off when you actually do go and get it cut

My hair is to my waist, and pretty healthy. I trim it a few times a year, to get rid of split ends. It's a myth that the more often you cut your hair, the faster it will grow and the stronger it will be. :)

Regular trims. It took me soooo long to grow my hair out. It comes to the top of my jeans. I love it!
