I love my girlfriend, but her past bothers me. She knows it does, and she has been nothing but faithful and honest to me. She was young and misguided and now all she wants is for me to look past her mistakes, but it is hard. Any ideas?

If you want ,and desire, a relationship with her, you have no choice but to overlook her past. Her past is history, and she can't change it. She has been nothing but good since you have known her, so forgive her past and move on. We have all done things we're ashamed of, but we all have to move past them. If she loves you, she will not repeat the past. Good Luck!!

boy.. this is sad to me.. We've all got 'pasts' honey.. Is her past (I'm guessing so) something like she's been w/a lotta men? That is hard. It's something that you can't get over overnight (or from writing here.. not really.) We all are young and screw up I guess.. You obviously do not have such a checkered past. It's nice she hooked up w/someone sensible and nice as I guess you are.. she's lucky there. (Think that..) You don't need to overlook her past really.. I mean pretend it didn't exist.. how about (sorry to sound so Biblical here but it is true) just the simple act of 'forgiveness?' Jesus said that good line about the one w/out sin casting the first stone, K? (Hey, I'm jewish.. Sorry for all the biblical stuff, once again!..lol.. I thought you needed it tho..) later.. g'luck Mel

You have to be in the present and think of what a great girl she is now. I used to be depressed and anorexic but now I've moved an and focused on being a better person not dwelling on what a terrible person I was to my friends and family during the past and thinking about how painfull life was. If you can't move on and forget you'll be stuck in the past and won't realize how great life really is!!!!:)

One thing is for sure, if you don't get over it, it's over!! It's kinda hypocritical of you to date a girl and fall in love with her, then complain this late in the game over her past. If it was that tarnished you shouldn't have began the relationship in the first place. If you did something when you were young that you weren't proud of, would you want someone that you love and respected enough to share your secret to hold it against you?
You should rearrange you priorities quick or you may be the one who has something to regret. Shame on you for holding someones past against them, I hope it doesn't backfire on you.

everyone has a past ,have you heard the saying you never know what youv'e got untill it's gone.i'd say your lucky to have found someone that is faithful and truthful in this day and age.it's not like she hid it from you ,because you know about it. so just love each other and let the past be just what it is (the past).

Well if you think you can't handle it just leave her, you have to realize that it was her PAST. What is important its whats happening now so i would say just get over it, try not to think about her past, their is nothing you can do about it . Good Luck.
