I was in the Army National Guard 12 years ago and suffered a shotgun wound to my foot. I will be leaving in 2 weeks to go back to Basic Training for Active Duty in the Regular Army as a Cavalry Scout. I have had more civilian jobs than I can even count over the last 12 years. They never satisfied me or my bosses were such idiots that I couldn't stand it. It is the most awesome feeling in the world for me to realize what my purpose in life is. Most people never get that opportunity in life. I am proud to be a soldier in the U.S. Army, and I would sign up for the rest of my life if I could. I am not looking forward to the day when I will have to be discharged. I pray for the chance to get to go to Iraq or Afghanistan or Iran. I can think of nothing more honorable than to participate in your country's history and the history of other countries for the cause of peace and the destruction of pure evil on this planet.

Absolutely, in a heart beat. By the age on 21 I had traveled to Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bahrain, Australia, and Alaska. I had dinner with the President (how cool is that?) and met friends that I will never ever forget. The only reason I got out was because I became a mother and I don't want to leave my babies for 6 months at a time. But I do not regret a single second of the 5 years I spent in the Navy. The sense of pride that I have for doing something meaningful with my life can't be put into words. God Bless all of all troops who are serving this great country. My prayers are with you all always!

Of course. What do you suppose we know now that would make anyone not join ?
The military defends the country. Are you saying that the country doesn't need definding now ?
Or should people only join when there is little need ? Join the service, wear a nice uniform, impress the girls, but if there is any need for the training the service gave you, run the other way. Is that what you're suggesting ?

Not just NO but hell NO. By doing so I would give up what little freedom I do have as a civilian.
It is said that the military defends this country but they do not defend me. You see, the Marines have this little saying "Semper Fidelis"
which is Latin for "always faithful" I see this often on cars as I drive by Camp Pendelton. It makes me laugh. Is this a saying towards the Marines and their wifes, or is it just for the Marines, because the ones I know are not faithful to either.
When I was in the service I found it to be more corrupted than the civilian world. I saw marines cheating on their wifes, Navy corpman using drugs or cheating on urine test, and many other things I shall not mention.
I would never want a Military person to defend me, and from what I know of my military neighbor I would never want to serve next to him.
I love civilian life. I love the fact that I can think for myself and do for myself. I can dress how I want and if I choose I can go 2 or 3 months with shaving. I do not have to ask to go on vacation and if I am late from my vacation I can call in and not get in trouble. I can walk away from a job and not be AWOL.
Hey if those men and women want to work for Americans that way then that is their decission. As for me I am free to do what ever it is I choose.

Absolutely! I love being in the Army and am thankful to have a job that I enjoy so much. Not everything you do in the military may be fun when you are doing it, but I have grown even from the "bad" experiences. I have 7 years in now and will definitely stay for 20+.

I have learned a lot of things since I seperated. Most of it bullshit propaganda fed to us by the press.
Yes, Even seeing both sides of the war issue, I would do it again.
I would also take greater advantage of the training opportunities and I most definately would have spent more time living on base or onboard my ships, and stuffed all that money in the bank, insted of giving it away a dollar at a time to some hot babes dancing on a stage. HA HA But dang it was fun!!!!

If you ask every soldier, of course they will go back. They all understand the risks, but its the duty, the honor, the courage that makes them want to stay. Even a wounded soldier would like to go back into action.

Yes, I may not have gone active duty when I was in the reserve, I only went Active because at the time we were not at war and I thought it was the only way to deploy.
