Cell phones can be used for cheating on tests and calling in false alarms to get out of class; neither one of those is allowed. Some students would spend all day on their phones if they were allowed to. School is for the purpose of developing self-discipline, so the students should not have access to cell phones during class.

Just like at work, in the real world, your boss probably wouldn't like it if you were on your cell whenever you wanted. That's what break time is for. Not work time when you are on the clock. Also, how can a person be expected to focus on learning when they are yapping on their cell? You are not allowed to talk to others during class, on the phone or otherwise. Cell phones in class is just another way our school system is breaking down.

No one would pay attention to learning, it would disturb everyone when ringing or being answered, it would take so much longer to learn everything because the class would constantly have to stop and wait for someone to finish talking on the phone and if class continues whilst someone is talking on the phone that person misses out on what the teacher is teaching at that time.

It is a distraction. It is nice that parents can call their kids, but not during class wait till the kids lunch period. If there is a bomb threat, a cell phones has been known to trigger bombs. The phones are getting more expensive. If they are stolen or broken, bye-bye to your money. Just think If it is stolen the all the overage mins. the parents would have to pay for.

They ring and interrupt class, they give studenta chances to cheat by text messaging, students play games on the phone, they can get lost, they can get stolen, it could break, they could make crank calls during free periods, If it breaks, gets lost, or gets stolen the school might be blamed and probably other things also.

most kids aren't responsible enough to turn their cell on silent or to just turn it off during school hours. even though it may be school policy for cellphones to be off during class, there's gonna be a few people that break that rule and distrat an entire class. it's just better off to not allow cell phones in school at all.

They distract from the learning experience when the students should be learning. Taxpayers are paying for the student to go to school and goofing off and not paying attention isn't a good way to "thank" the taxpayers. It puts their money to good use. I don't know. Those are my thoughts :)

Because when they ring they interupt class. It would be to much of a temptation/distraction to text message during class.
