It occurs to me that to be a Hypocrite, you must first make your own rules and then break them. The rules that Christians point out are not our rules. They are the rules of the God we believe in. We are merely stating what is in the bible.

Unfortunately there are 'Christians' who are Christians on Sunday just to look good for some people and for the rest of the week they are in the strip clubs, liqueur stores, and doing horrible things that they think no one sees. It is also unfortunate that they will have a Jesus fish on the back of their car while it sits in the parking lot of a strip club or when they give somebody the finger in traffic.

Then there are true Christians who actually try to do what they are supposed to do and get harassed for something they did not even say or do.

I have noticed some people say its because Christians tell them they are going to hell. I have never told anyone that they were going to hell-even when I went out witnessing. If it weren't for Jesus I would be going to hell too.

Well, I can't speak for anybody else, but I call a lot of Christians hypopcrites because they break the rules that are in the bible. Are you any less of a hypocrite for breaking your God's rules than your own?

Some hold the belief that Christians are hypocrites because they preach certain things, but then believe that those very same things do not apply to them. For example, if a Christian believes that sodomy is wrong, then every bj they give or receive is breaking that rule that they preach. And lets face it, most Christians have partaken in a bj.

Most people assume the bible is the word of God. It's the word of ancient scribes, with their own evident biases and opinions. And THATS a fact. Whether or not you choose to believe all of the stories in the bible, or some, or none, depends on your own free will, and thats what God gave us - free will. God didn't create AIDS to destroy gays. And he isn't controlling global warming. I think you get my drift.

The real thing that's important is understanding that we all are given free will. Forcing your OWN will onto others, defeats the purpose of free will.

Hey Im a Michael F too! Anyway...I don't think they have to be our own rules. Even if they are God's rules...if we tell others to keep them, but don't do so ourselves, we are hypocrites. The pharisees had the Law (which was given to Moses by God) and transgressed it although they taught it, and so Jesus called them hypocrites.
But a real Christian would never break the laws of God (at least without repenting soon after), so my belief is its because of the many wolves in sheeps clothing among the fold of God which work evil works and make the church look bad.

You embrace the rules, they become yours. Also, many christians say they and their god are all about love and taking care, yet many of them will be the worst at bashing those that don't believe their way, making money no matter what gets hurt or destroyed, saying anything that doesn't fit their way is evil and of the devil, etc. I'm not saying all are hypocrites, but the noisy, ugly ones spread their crap far.

I believe many so called Christians are thought to be hypocrites because they pick and choose some of Gods laws they to follow.
How many unwed girls have babies because it is "against their religion to have an abortion". What christians sect allows fornacation? None.
How many Christains thithe as the bible demands; with time and money? Darned few!
How many Christains worship in groups of 3-4 in their homes as Jesus' peached? Instead they build huge buildings of worship contridicting the teachings of Christ.
These are simply a few examples of the reasons that Christians are so often and rightfully viewed as hypocrites.

People call many Christians hypocrites because many "preach" the word to unbelievers and then on Friday and Saturday night go to the club, or do other things we as Christians should not be doing.
they talk the talk but do not walk the walk.

I'm not a church goer but I believe no one deserves to be labeled a hypocrite because first of all we all are at some point in our lives and secondly I think church was made precisely for "hypocrites".

1. 99% of "Christians" are Paulist. They do not follow the teachings or example of Jesus, they follow Paul, who was the original anti-Christ in that everything he taught was totally opposite what Jesus taught.

2. Christians totally ignore any part of the bible that does not support their pride, bigotry, arrogance, racism and hatred.

How many more reasons do we need?

Christians do NOT "state what's in the bible," they state whatever they can find to support their hatred and bigotry and ignore the rest
