Jews didn't kill Jesus, the Romans did. Jews had so little power in the Roman government its not even funny. You know who actually killed Jesus? Pontias Pilate, the Roman governor of Palestine.

People believe and use all sorts of fantastic excuses to justify oppression of Jews.

Such as "Jews killed Jesus" or "Jews stole Palestine"

Every generation comes up with a new twist on the "blood libel"

Jesus died for political reasons: The Romans couldn't stand by and allow someone to walk around and proclaim himself as the King of the Jews. It sets a bad precedent.

In trying to sell the "New Testament" to the greater Roman world, the story was rewritten so as to let the Romans off the hook and make the Jews the guilty party. Convenient, yes?

Ah, but the Bible is clear on this topic. Jesus the Christ was Jewish...and his own people, the religious leaders of his community, turned against him and put him into Pilate's hands. Yes, the Romans issued the death sentence and actually carried it out...but, it was the Jewish community was ultimately responsible for the accusation that sealed his fate.

Matthew 27 (New Living Translation)
1Very early in the morning, the leading priests and other leaders met again to discuss how to persuade the Roman government to sentence Jesus to death. 2Then they bound him and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor.

You are right in the literal term, they didn't kill Jesus, they turned him over to Pilate and the crowd whoever they were chose not to free Jesus and the Jews were not allowed to kill anyone because they were under roman oppression that is one of the reasons they rejected Christ as the messiah because they felt the true Messiah would release them

I only ever hear Jewish people saying that people
believe that Jews killed Jesus. He was so (and still is)
sooo rejected by the Jews and in the Roman state
where His persecution and crucifiction took place,
the Jewish High Priests and the mobs were not
going to be satisfied or pacified until He died. It shouldn't
matter because it is by His death that any of us will
have eternal life. He came and flipped their ancient
script that eternal life could be given by WORKS
(reliousity, rituals, things still going on as we speak)
which it can't. We're saved by HIS grace and the anger
and misunderstanding of the Rabbinical priests drove
them to seek His death. ALSO, God has made Israel
and the Jewish race His Chosen People and charged
every nation to protect them...so...again...it shouldn't
matter.

WRONG!WROMG!WRONG!
Yahuudi bullied Romans into crucifying 2 thieves instead of the Christ and Barabbas, and the slick Romans tricked the Yahuudi and had them accept the blood of 2 thieves named Jesus by the Romans on themselevs (yahuudi) and on their children and that blood is still cursed in Isreal today as you can see.
Ever heard of the wandering Jew? It is a Christian expression.
No Yahuudi today can trace his ancestry to the tribe of Judah, so why accept the false Biblical name and not accept the curse?

As an evangelical Protestant, I can say that WE at least don't think of the Jews as the ones who killed Christ. We think of them as the ones who gave Him to us, and because of that, we owe to them a debt beyond all hope of repayment. We look at the Jews with a love and gratitude too great to put into words. Jesus was a Jew Himself, and so were all the Apostles and most of the early Christians.

Pilate gave the group of Jews gathered at the "trial" the option of freeing either Jesus or a murder. The Jews chose to free the murder.

The Jews nor the Romans killed Jesus. Sin crucified Jesus. You have to look much deeper through the Holy Spirit , to understand. It was each and everyone of us, that Jesus died for. MY sin, to be forgiven. be blessed
