If what you mean by "regular" water is "tap water," most municipal water systems are generally safe to drink, but are often teated with various chemicals, such as fluorine, chlorine, or ozone. Some people do have adverse reactions to municiple water, but most people don't.

I am assuming by "mineral water" you are referring to bottled spring water, such as Deer Park, Perrier, etc. Since there are no hard and fast rules concerning how bottled water is labeled, "mineral water" could technically be used to describe deep well water with a high mineral content.

If you find you have some sensitivities to the tap water from your local municipal water system, then drinking bottled water would probably be best. If you travel a lot and find that local municipal water disagrees with your system, again you would probably be better off with bottled water.

For most people it comes down to personal preference. I prefer the taste of mineral or spring water to the tap water produced by my local municipality. My wife, on the other hand, gets severe headaches when she drinks too much of the local stuff. The bottom line -- we mostly drink bottled water.

The other thing to keep in mind as well when looking at bottled water is the difference between distilled, purified, and spring water. Distilled water and purified drinking water are usually nothing more than "regular" water that has been processed either by distillation or filtration respectively. Bottled spring water is usually taken from a natural spring; the bottle will normally say where. Mineral water may or may not be filtered.

As for any real advantage, they are probably more perceived than actual. The one advantage I see for bottled water over tap water is that bottled water, if you buy the same brand, will have a consistent taste. Tap water, on the other hand, will vary in taste by the source and the amount of water treatment processing (if any). The big disadvantage for bottled water is that it is generally more expensive.

Hope that helps.

Here I am bragging about Alaska again. Where I live, the tap water comes out so cold and is so good that I usually drink tap water. I buy bottles of water for convenience but I do drink tap water too. I don't know the advantages and disadvantages but I don't think bottled water is that much better. I know many places have fluoride in the water and I would try to avoid that. I have read that bottled water isn't any better and that we are dumb for paying for it, but I am afraid I can't remember much of what the article said. LOL I hope you get some good answers; I will be checking back to read them.

regular water is healthier for you especially if you have infants and tykes. regular water has more iron in it than mineral water. if you drink mineral water you will either have to purchase the kind with iron or take iron drops. when all else fails and you want something healthier than regular water drink nursery water. you can find it in the baby section.

Not much. The best is the steam distilled water.
The best source of vitamins and minerals is
not the water itself. It is the foods we eat.
The better source of water aids in the
metabolism of food and since the distilled
water is the purest and closest to the body's
natural PH it is your best bet. Drink up!

Peace.
