I was eating at a restaurant called Ishii when the waitress brought me a soda and the straw had a small roach on it. (it was dead). I was also eating at a restaurant called The Flaming Wok and big roach crawled across my table. The food at both places was so good but I can't bring myself to eat at either of these places again - Would you?

No, if I saw a roach i would talk to the manager about it and would not go back because then I would always think of the roach that I saw and it would gross me out.

About twenty-years ago, I was eating at a now long-defunct Chinese restaurant in Dupont Circle, here in DC. My date and I noticed a roach crawling across the table linen. I called the waiter over. He was an older Chinese gentleman who just smiled, took his towel and whacked the bug! I asked my date if she wanted to leave but she seemed fine with it. Maybe it's an Asian culture thing (she's a Filipina) but since it didn't get in any food and the cuisine there was excellent, we just accepted it.
I had eaten there alone on another occasion and could smell the distinct odor of roach spray. (There was also a Greek restaurant in Georgetown in the early seventies and the staff would actually spray for roaches while customers were dining. I kid you not!)
Would likely walk out nowadays, though.

If I saw the roaches, no I wouldn't eat at the restaurant any longer. Most places have roaches they just keep them concealed with a good exterminator. Why do you think the exterminator visits every month if there is no bug problem. Bump prevention, there is none as long as there is water and food around, only treatment.

Yuk! No way! I do know that straws are kept in a cardboard box, and those roaches love that! I would call the Health Department on both of those restaurants. They need to be closed. By the way, I was told never to order an ice cream cone, as the cones are stored in cardboard boxes as well. It's okay to order a cup of ice cream, but no cone!

Well, I am sorry to say so, but even the cleanest restaurant has roaches...You can't keep them away. But of course you can tell the waiter.
The worse thing I ever saw, was, when I was a soldier, stationed in Germany. We had an alarm and had to go on exercises for 3 days. I ran to the kitchen to get some of these "soldiers biscuits". When I turned on the light... thousands of roaches ran away for shelter under the sinks and cupboards...

No, and if I had seen a roach, dead or alive, I would walk out then and there, and would yell out that I am NEVER going back to no roach motel. And I sure as hell wouldn't drink any soda from a straw that had one on it.

I'd eat the roach then the food, and then lick the table clean too... Maybe even the waitress... mmm...

NO... Never eat at restaurants... Any of them, unless there's a big pane of glass in between you and the kitchen...

No I would not Most places may have some insects but if they don't take the time to rid them of insects where people can see them you can imagine how many bugs there are where you don't see. You might want to see if your county or city has a place where you can see the inspection information. You may also want to make sure the manager knows about the insects!

. I would not eat there again...where there is one there are a million. They may have paid the health dept. a bribe to pass the inspection. There should not be roaches in restaurants
