okay. here's my take on engagement rings. someone once wanted to get me a 2k ring. now, i am not one who likes a guy to spend a great amount of money on me. in fact...i have a limit. i wouldn't wear anything that is over 500 dollars. it just wouldn't happen. i believe in saving up for the future...not spending everything on a ring. so to me, size doesnt' matter.

Only to other people who need to be impressed by expensive material things. My engagement ring was an antique beauty we found in a romantic shop in San Francisco...wasn't expensive and total weight was only 1/2 carat! I love that ring and get TONS of compliments on it:) What really matters is the sentiment behind the ring!

First of all you have to consider your budget. 1.5 carats in a good size for an engagement ring. Consider what she does for a living..does she work with her hands a lot. If she does, something this large may not be suitable so go for something smaller with a better clarity and color. I would rather have a smaller nice stone than a larger one that it clouded with inclusions and a bad color. Most women have a condition known as shrinking diamond syndrome, beware....she may expect something larger for birthdays, Christmas and Anniversaries.

Everyone likes something different! I have always wanted an engagement ring! I never had a real one! I do like a ring that has a good size diamond. Of course it is the meaning behind it that is most important!

Yes, it does.
That doesn't mean the bigger the better, that means you buy a rock of respectable size that shows you have been saving and put thought into the ring and proposal. 1/2 caret - 1 caret.

well as in the stone as long as she can see it that is all that matters. the size of the ring around her finger you should get her size. so find her size first. the stone if she is the type of girl who loves expensive things then try to find a big diamond. but if she like simple things get her a nice average stone. good luck with your engagement.

nope mines really small it's actually supposed to be a promise ring but i love it. Although i will tell you my fiance gets a lot of crap from other people who think he should've gone bigger and sometimes he wishes he had so it's all about her and what you can handle

No...but pay attention to her preferences..what kinds of jewelry does she wear now? White gold, yellow gold, etc....and go with that as a starting point. Huge bling does not mean you love her more...just pick one in your price range that you think is classy and beautiful...
