Go to usps.com and locate a post office that has a passport office. There you will find the forms you need to fill out to apply for a passport. Those forms will also indicate what supporting documentation you need to provide to prove that you're a legal citizen of the U.S. ... which you should be able to do, *if* you're a native from Alabama (and you haven't surrendered your citizenship).

You need your birth certificate, passport photos and a post office. And some cash ($14 or so?)

Go to the post office with your birth certificate and driver's license or other gov. issued identification and ask for a passport application. They will tell you the rest.
