My buddy has been dating his girlfriend for 4 months and has been paying for about 90% of their dates and 100% of the $100-dollar-dinners, trips, hotels, etc. She has paid for a few dinners here and there that were on the $25 side. She never offers to pay for expensive stuff yet makes pretty good money, just like my friend. Question: How can he politely ask her to chip in more fairly....WITHOUT getting killed in the process? He shouldnt be bankrupting himself on expensive dinners and weekend trips, right?

Guys should pay nearly 100% of the time, its the polite thing to do. However, if he is going broke then he is obviously spending too much on her and needs to rethink having such a high maintenance g/f

well, guys tend to pay. that's the "rules". now when i was dating a few guys i did pay for most of it. or half at least. that's just what i want. i don't want the guy spending everything. however, if he wants to spend this much, then he's going to. he's gotta put his foot down himself. he's gotta be the strong one and say "that's enough". nothing anyone can do for him. maybe he WANTS to do this. otherwise why wouldn't he stop? if she's a gold digger...then he should just leave and find someone who deserves him more and loves him.

If your "friend" doesn't have a problem with it then it's really none of your concern. Her chippig in is something he should be man enough to discuss with HIS girlfriend. Has he even complained to you about it, or are you just taking it upon yourself to butt in? Where is your gf, does she chip in on your dates? For all you know, hi gf compensates in other ways that you know nothing about. It's really not your business.

He can suggest that he needs to slow down, make comments that he likes very independent women that can take charge of initiating something...

Well, i was in the same situation. I just told my gf that i was low in cash and that if she was able to pitch in. Me and her have been together for 8 months, its good to find out wat kind of person ur friend is dating. so my answer.
Just ask her if she can pitch in. I mean theyre not married. So they both gotta pitch. If she doesnt want to well, you gotta talk to her.
