the egg caus it would have been two different types of birds that mated to make the chicken so it would have been the egg.

Actually, it should be from what dinosaur did the chicken come from as I am sure you have read in school that all birds originally descended from them.
So, I would surmise that the chicken is a mutated form of a reptile that eventually became what we see today and all of these creature lay eggs. From nothing comes nothing and so an egg cannot create itself so there you go.

If you believe in creationism, then the chicken came first.
