My best friend says that her friend's dog is a silky terrier, and says that it's almost all white, it's about 8 months old. I believe that the "so-called" silky terrier is really a white west-highland terrier. Please help me settle this confusing question!

No, it's definitely not a Silky Terrier - they should be blue-ish grey and tan. It's more likely a Maltese, which is all white and has a similar build to the Silky. A Westie is quite a bit bigger and has a coarse, shorter coat. Any dog groomer or vet should be able to tell you for sure. If she got it from a pet store, don't be surprised - many of those dogs come from puppy mills and there is no guarantee that they are purebred even if they have papers!

Silky Terriers are most similar to the coloring of a yorkie but a lighter color. Very little dark hair if any.

silky terriers usually look like bigger yorkies in color, but you never know it could be albino... also silky terriers have smooth fur wfile westies usually have rougher coats (not always though)

no silkies are not white anywhere!. you are right. it could be a maltese, or a westie. silkies are colored exactly like the yorkie. and the aussie.

no they tan and black.West highlands are white,check to see if its eyes are red albino it might be

Not really. they're blue and fire red or blue with tan markings

i don't really know, but my neighbor has one and it's tan and black, it's so cute:)
