she is 6 years old and very cranky.

she has or had a soft spot on her head. I as told that true chihuahuas have one-but, are they supposed to close? Does it compress their brains? Thank you.

Yes that is perfectly normal. My Chi's soft spot was quite large when I got her and now it is about the size of a dime. It is just closing up and is actually a good thing because they won't be as prone to getting serious head injuries with it closed. If you are still worried about her temperament (Was she never cranky before?) then call your vet and ask them. They're not going to charge you for a phone call and then you would know whether you need to be worried or not for sure. Good luck fellow Chi owner! =)

That's called a molera and it's fine that it's gettnig smaller. Chances are that you're just noticing this since she's six years old. Her molera would have closed long ago if it was going to. It does not cause any problem with the brain at all whether it remains open or closes entirely.

Well in my opinion, dogs should NOT have a soft spot on the head forever!!!!!!!!! In baby humans it goes away. Why would a dog have a spot on the head where the skull does not close????????? That is not right. That is proof of dog breeding gone haywire. Nature did not intend for that!!!!!!!!

If it is anything like a baby, then that would be normal. Take her to the vet if it seems to be affecting her health. As for shrinking in on her brain, I doubt it.
