Query - have any of you read the book, or looked at the plan? It's clever, not perfect but at least it's something more than Sally Struthers standing there teary-eyed and saying "think of the children!"

I'm inclined to think this plan is worth a shot. Yes, it'd be nice if Bono and Jolie would put their money where their mouths are, but it seems a far better use of tax dollars spent on foreign aid to render it through programs that actually do something rather than funnel it through dubious government entities that allow a great deal of siphoning off the top by corrupt leaders.

Or we could just allow Malthusian processes to take care of it through war, famine and pestilence. Not that these don't impact us. Famine drives up the prices of crops. Pestilence, well, we now have HIV which may have been caught and contained far sooner if there was a public health infrastructure in place, and hemorrhagic fevers native to many of these regions are the stuff of nightmares. Then there's war, but I don't think I need to remind you how many situations the military has gotten into after the humanitarian portion of the mission collapsed. I think it's simply cheaper in the long-run to try to ameliorate poverty rather than deal with it's aftermath, but it's as much your tax money as it is mine, so we'll see the exit polls.

a well meaning over educated fool perhaps but not a fool to be sure.

he has never learned to look at the problem and it is one of organization . they are poorly organized with a lot of theft and greed.
lets get them growing hemp weed will grow anywhere savanahs coverd in weed for miles in every direction producing the best fibers for clothing known to man.i heard it breaks up harder soils making them more productive and adding nitrates back to the soil is that why we had the dust bowls across the farm belt in america destroyed hemp crops and no crops ready to replace the illegal crops destroyed by the government lol the truth my friend. then for the war they grew it again on government land and select farms till they no longer needed to .
We have plenty of solutions just no one to lead us towards them.
Wetoss money at the problem cause it is worthless ask the economics proffesor what value money realy has.good for stating fires is about it .right on it ---it says for all debts puplic and private.if you pay me with it that means i did something now if you charge me for it then what have you done.So banks and stocks and bonds are all just what paper and cheap at that to make at least coined money has some value. So you tell a guy in kenya that you will give him paper and for this he needs to do as he is told all day and at the end of the week he will get a stack of money .then he can take it to a guy with 5 plump chickens and convince him that he can take it and trade it for a pair of shoes with another guy . the chicken guy says no way your women will come here latter and blow me for two chickens and be back everyday you will be gone and all i will have is a stack of paper.lolwho is the economist trying to fool. lets make them nets to sleep with to end malaria yeah we will put a net over the whole country
lets eradicate the mosquito all togheter
