Why not? Of course you won't know who is in the audiance but it can teach her good competition skill, teach her to value and take pride in herself, boost her self-esteem, meet some new people, and if you teach her right she will be able to find the beauty in everyone. Not all children who go through beauty pagents become stuck up snobby sluts....it's all in how you raise her. Show her why others won the prizes they won by pointing out the good in that child, teach her how to dress modestly and still be beautiful, encourage her to make friends with the other girls in the pagent. It can be a great experiance. It all depends on if you think the pro's out weigh the con's. I personally think that they do.

What are you expecting to get out of the experience? Are you wanting to show off your child's cuteness or do you want them to jump start a possible career? How much are you willing to "invest"; money and time wise? I would suggest you pass on the pageants and instead opt to get your child an agent or an agency. This way, the opportunities come directly to you and not he other way around. Also, don't be scammed!!! This is a comon mistake... a legit agent/ agency offers you work first through some sort of contract agreement. THEN you get paid afterwards... Good luck to you both!!!

Beauty pageant can offer some good things like scholarships and cash prizes. I just don't see the reason to teach children that you are better just because you are prettier. As for it attracting perverts I say you have to be a pervert to judge something that includes putting small children in frilly dresses and to much make-up.

NO! That's the worst thing you could ever do to a child! These functions DO draw sexual predators and perverts; DO NOT do that to your child!

beauty pageants definitely teach the children that outer beauty is most important. We learn enough through all of our years that beautiful people get the advantages. Little children shouldn't have to be subjected to this so young.

I would say no...Too many parents get wrapped up in them and before they know it their kid has pageants every weekend and practice everyday. The kids don't get to be normal kids and run, play, eat candy, go to sleep overs, ect. Why can't parents just let their kids be kids. When she gets older let her choose and activity and support her in what ever it is don't push her into it.

Personally I think that ou should wait until she got a little older. Those things can be so outrageous. These children are subjected to things that you may not want your child subjected to. Also it seems so adultish, you should allow yor 2 year old to enjoy being a two year old, not being older.

Yes, they do, and they also give children an unhealthy focus on their clothes and hair as their source of self worth, as well as instilling the idea of competing with and being "better than" other kids. I think it's just absurd.

Ask her if she wants to. My mom entered me into one when i was about two and it scared me. She asked me if I would like to do commercials or more pageants and I told her I was scared and that was it.
