No word in and of itself is bad.Its the context in which it is used.People that try to control your language, usually want to control everything else about you as well.

I used to make a new year's resoloution every year to quit cussing. It never worked, but I try to keep it down. Ususally, it makes the speaker sound unintelligent. There is no place for it in business, public places (i.e., stores, libraries, chuches, etc.). If you are at a bar with your friends or a party where it's already going on, go for it! I just think you should be aware of your surroundings (older people, children, etc.) before you use profanity. By the way, you shouldn't yell "fire!" in the middle of a crowded theatre to check your freedom of speech.

My complaint with most curse words is that they are NOT expressive. In fact, they are mostly meaningless. I get so tired of the F word -- it is meaningless. If you are really upset about something, for goodness sakes find a way to express it that is colourful, vivid, alive and meaningful. Not the dull and boring repetition of the F word.

Curse words are just words...I think it's a little stupid to decide that some words are "naughty". But, since society has accepted this for so long, we must teach our children to go along with it or they will be shunned.

It's just plain rude. People should have some common courtesy and keep their foul language to themselves...it only shows how immature and uneducated a person is when they feel they must curse all of the time.

I think that they are an expression of anger or unexpected excitement (like hitting your thumb with a hammer). I don't have anything against it. I curse a lot and especially when something bad happens or I am pissed off.

You should have a highly developed vocabulary so you can use expressions other than swear words.Being in a free country doesn't mean that you are free to do anything that you want.

Are they bad? Not to me, but they are inappropriate in many situations. Using them frequently can make one look trashy and can cause one to lose friends.

using foul language is illmannered, immature and offensive to most people. It's gutter tak, and that's where it should stay.
