Contact the tax bureau in the state where you live. Tell them your story. Then wait several months for them to get back to you and several more months after that for them to send you another check. And, it will be without interest. Only we taxpayers have deadlines and get penalized if we are late.

Contact the state income tax where you filed, and tell them what happened. They can trace if it was cashed.

Always have it direct deposited to your account.

agree with JJ. Contact the state and they will cancel your old check (the missing one) and they will issue you a new one. It'll probably take 2-4 weeks.
