I think Islam is a widely misunderstood religion that is primarily very peaceful. People fail to realize that every religion has a group of followers that pervert the real meaning. With Christians, it's the KKK. With Mormons, it's the polygamists. True Muslims are peaceful, loving people that condemn terrorist activity.

I think Islam is beautiful!
Not my own path, but still, undoubtedly beautiful!
It's a shame it has become notorious & synonomous with terrorism. People need to realize that there is no such thing as Islamic Terrorism. Islam IS a religion of peace & condemns any violence that is not done in self defense. Even more important, terrorism attacks innocents, & Islam is very much against such an act.
However, just like Christianity, Judaism, Paganism, etc...some of the people who practice Islam use it as a means to justify their own actions of hate & violence.
Knowledge is the only way to change people's negative opinions of Islam.
Peace Be With You!

I don't think that the founding premises of Islam are bad. But then I don't push any religion on anyone. I am a soldier, but also a student of culture, religion and philosophy. In my study of the Quran and Islam I found the religion to be based with alot of the same premises as Christianity and Mosaic Law. There are lots of similarities... but as with any religion... its not the religious foundations, its the people who interput it. There are fanatics in just about any every faith and demonination in all religions. I don't think there are any "bad" religions.... only bad people in them.

My gripe is not with the individual Muslim, for they differ from person to person. My angst is with the leaders of the Islamic nations. To me it has to do with accountability. Why doesn't the Islamic majority in the United Nation condemn the thousands of terrorist acts perpetrated by those of their faith? Because Muslims cannot judge other Muslims. Only Allah can judge them.
Yet when it comes to judging the infidel, there are no holds barred. They can set off bombs in buses and in markets, burn churches because of cartoons, sentence converts to death and thousands of other acts around the world--all with impunity.
Now, let us contrast this attitude with what the Bible teaches. 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 "For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges."
This is the polar opposite to Islam. The Bible teaches that the Christian is to judge the actions of other Christians and call them on the carpet if they are doing ANYTHING unbiblical. However, those who are NOT believers, the Christian is to leave alone, that only GOD will judge them.
So if Islam chose today to standup and condemn every single act of terror and violence committed in the name of Allah, you would see this attitude change overnight.

There you go being a sneaky christian liar again Schneb! twisting your words to get a desired effect! Have you ever even read the Qur'an? I bet you didnt cause if you did you would find............
Qur'an 4:135 "O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God EVEN IF IT BE AGAINST YOURSELVES, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor. God is a better protector to both, So follow not the lusts of your heart, lest you avoid justice. And if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, then verily God is Ever well acquainted with all that you do"
So you see Qur'an is not biased when it comes to Justice "even if against your self you must give justice. Go ahead Schneb You are a Schnob

Any belief system which has this sort of stuff satisfies my criteria for 'bad':
[2:126] "As for him who disbelieveth, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the doom of Fire"
[4:56] Lo! Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that they may taste the torment.
8:14 That (is the award), so taste it, and (know) that for disbelievers is the torment of the Fire.
10:4 ...as for those who disbelieve, theirs will be a boiling drink and painful doom because they disbelieved.
17:10 And that those who believe not in the Hereafter, for them We have prepared a painful doom.
18:29 Say: (It is) the truth from the Lord of you (all). Then whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, let him disbelieve. Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers Fire. Its tent encloseth them. If they ask for showers, they will be showered with water like to molten lead which burneth the faces. Calamitous the drink and ill the resting-place!
22:19 These twain (the believers and the disbelievers) are two opponents who contend concerning their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads, Disbelievers will wear garments of fire, boiling fluid will be poured on their heads, their bellies and skin will be melted, they will be tormented with iron hooks, and when they try to escape they will be driven back with the taunt: Taste the doom of burning.
22:20 Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted;
22:21 And for them are hooked rods of iron.
22:22 Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning.
... And so on, and on, and on, and on, ad nauseum. Utterly vile.
Christianity is also 'bad' for exactly the same reason (although the Qur'an does seem to go into rather more sadistic detail).
Also it's 'bad' in the sense that it contradicts reality and advocates sexual inequality.
