Don't use WD-40...
Buy Remington Oil or another light oil meant for guns -- you can get it in the Sporting section at Wal-Mart -- comes in a green/yellow spray can or bottle.
I don't know if you can use a cleaning rod on air rifles, but if you can, get on and put a patch on the patch puller on the rod with oil on it and swab the barrel out.. Put a few drops (or a spray) on the joints of the moving parts too.

Don't use wd-40, its not a lube its just a water displacer...
For mine I just use liquid wrench or PB plaster. Mines a crossman high powered bb gun.
I guess I've gone through 20 thousand BB's atleast on that thing.

use WD-40 there should be a small hole located near the trigger or on the barrel. WD-40 can be bought at any hardware store

there should be a little hole on it somewhere that says "oil here" and i would buy Rem-Oil...its oil for all types of guns made by Remington...

any light machine oil will do the needful.........no fuss about it.use a used soft vest on the rod to clean the gun
