9 of the 10 countries in the world with the lowest literacy rates are nations with a majority of Muslims. It's kind of ironic that so many Muslims call everyone else "ignorant" when apparently, ignorance is bliss in Islam. The situation is especially bad with women. Even in countries like Saudi Arabia which have the means to educate their women, literacy among the female population is pathetic. Do Muslim men believe women are simply baby factories for manufacturing the next generation of suicide bombers ?

Cesar: not arrogance. I'm just asking why educating their population is such a low priority for Muslims.

Lady Rebecca: Yes, Saudi Arabia has SOME educated women- mostly the wealthy.
Go to some Bedouin camp and see how many woman can read.

Why bother educating them when all they are going to do is blow themselves up anyway? I think that education takes a 'backseat' because they only have one cause and that is world domination. Once they reach that goal (as if!) then they can focus on education.

first thing ignorance is not a bliss in Islam in the quraan there are many different Sara's that emphases in the importance of education for example
[68.1] Noon. I swear by the pen and what the angels write,
the first part of the Quraan was:[96.1] Read in the name of your Lord Who created.
now about Saudi Arabia why don't you come here and see how the Bedouins will send their children everyday to school you know why? because they need the money that the government give to children of Bedouins who acutely goes to school now it is doesn't happen in the big cities because everyone is going to school anyway
in Saudi you can go to any university for free and not only that they actually pay you to study ever month I'm studying medicine at university and there are about 300 girls in the same level with me who are studying medicine as well and you know what its the same as the male side no difference we are only separated and i don't see that as a big issue really
everyone of us is studying hard not only to improve ourselves but be cause we know that we need to change the way the world see us and i hope not everyone get their information from the same source you got your information from
its true some countries are still fighting literacy and they happen to be Muslim countries i think its clear that this does not imply that Islam fight education

Actually...the Curran told Muslim to get educated...but unfortunately some people are not caring too much... What u see today of low literacy isn't from Islam....And women in Saudi Arabia don't have their wrights yet... Kuwait is the first AGGC country to give their women Wrights... And no muslim men don't believe women r baby factories... some women have become lawyers, doctors and well known women... They are like you and me.... And suicide bombers are misunderstanding Islam.... It never told them to kill innocent people or hurt anyone.

Muslims dont value education at all because by the time they are in their teens they all become either terrorists or suicide bombers and dont live long enough to learn anything and if they did have an education then they would all learn and realize how STUPID their religion is and they would rather be catholics or christians or some other religion that doesnt include wrapping explosives around your waist and running into a fully packed McDonalds restaurant or some other and killing innocent people who all they wanted to do is enjoy a day out with their friends or family.......enough said..........

Actually, your above statement is not true. A lot of third wold countries with muslim populations struggle with education, but not because of their religion - it's due to their economic situation.
Regimes like the Taliban are responsible for spreading misguided views, unfortunately. Saudi is full of extremely well educated women, along with many other countries.
You will find that with the rise of Islam centuries ago, Universities flourished and the spread of knowledge travelled like wild fire across the globe.

The prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim".
It has been authenticated from Rabee’ah (a scholar of Islaam from the past) who said:
((Knowledge is a means to all excellence))
Siyar A'laam an-Nubalaa. - Volume 6, Page 90
Ibn Hazam al-Andalusee (rahima-hullaah) mentions:
((A man who is a miser with his knowledge is worse than a man who is a miser with his money, for the money-miser is afraid of using up what he possesses but the knowledge-miser is being mean with something which does not get used up and is not lost when it is given away)).
al-Akhlaaq was-Siyar - Ibn Hazam al-Andalusee
And there are many more narrations in Islaam like this
Maalik ibn Anas (radhi-yallaahu 'anhu) said:
((Whoever does not love knowledge, then there is no good in him; So there should not be any acquaintence between you and him, and nor any friendship)).
al-Khateeb in al-Faqeeh wal-Mutafaqqih - Volume 1, Page 15;
Mabaahith fee Ahkaam al-Fatwa - Page 12
In Saudi Arabia, there are many educated Muslim women. Education of the women is something taken into a high priority. For those who say otherwise, then this is out of ignorance. There are many knowledgable women in Saudi Arabia. There are universities for women and schools for higher education for women.
So rather than make ignorant statements and leave yourself in a position of ignorance, research and learn yourself for these ignorant statements only shows the reality of yourself.

this is a false idea about this religion ,
the first sora ( chapter) in the quraan ordered muslims to (READ)
and islam honored the scientists and praised them in many parts of the Quraan .
obviously the low literacy level in islamic countries is because of poverty prevailed in these places and nothing else.
u can find the same low literacy level in non muslim developing countries.
and islam didnt differentiate between man and woman in ordering all muslims to read and have knowledge.
i want to remind you that when the islamic civilization was dominating there were many scientists who guide the westeren civilization and tought them in many fields like (Ibn sina, alhazen and Ibn roshd) and much more,
i want to remind u also that many nopel prize winners are muslims ....
and plz enough with the bad iamge about suicide bombers they dont represent Islam and we can't judge the whole population of muslims bec. of the act of few misled people.
for example i cant claim that christianity is a terrorism religion bec. of the person who bombed Oklahoma building or bec. of the crucaide wars !!

You see what Islam & Christian said about women & education
Islam : "Seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim man and Muslim woman."
Prophet Mohammed
Christian : "let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law, and if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for woman to speak in the church."
1 Corinthians 14:34-35
If you go to Malaysia, more women in university than men.

Muslims value Islam above all.
Many Americans can read and write:
this is not the point-
the point is the subject of the reading and writing.
The point is always the subject.
Perhaps you should consider addressing a SUBJECT which you are divinely gifted to understand. The essence of Islam escapes you. Get over it and move on.

Islam is a religion you can't blame it for all the stuff that goes on in the Middle East that's like Hitler blaming the Jews for everything that was wrong with Germany at the time. This is why people hate the U.S. because stupid people like you think that because somebody who was a terrorist and believed in Islam then every one who is a Muslim is terrorist that would be like me saying Bush is and idiot and he is Christian so therefore all Christians are idiots you can't make generalizations like these to me that's honestly being a racist.

Higher mathematics, science and astronomy would not be where they are today without the contributions of Muslim scholars. Much of human history would be lost without the preservation methods developed in Muslim countries. Most of the countries you speak of are in Africa, so it would make more sense to say that being poor and living in africa without the means to get a proper education is of greater significance than being muslim.
