A lot of people will say stuff like you must be dumb to believe in what you believe.
Edit: Like the guy above calling our religion a bunch of silly myths
That type of thing and also scientists who are christians aren't treated well in the scientific community.

Since when are Christians persecuted? Christians are the one persecuting everyone else. Just look at history. Any Christian that feels persecuted needs to wake up.
On the other hand, fat, ugly, white, American men, as I am, are very much persecuted. It's hard to get service in restaurants and stores. If I want to change jobs, it's hard to get interviews. If I am looking for a date, I get the cold shoulder (even when I wasn't fat). Being just a white American is bad enough, but I have a penis too, and that's pretty much a cursed person in this country anymore. It's not my fault for what happened in history. I am not religious. I came from a poor family. I have done nothing, nor my family that is racist or against any other people for any reason, be it creed, race or religion. Yet, I keep my chin up and live my life in a happy way. Life's too short to be unhappy.

2 Timothy 3:12 Those who live a godly life will be persecuted.
Persecution stems in many ways and in many forms.
Many good godly people I know have suffered horrific ordeals, I am praying for 20 good decent God fearing people who have different stages of cancer.
My husband steadfast7 and I have had some rough times that we did not cause to happen it is what it is.
If you are not serving God you wont be attacked, if you are fervently serving God you will have opposition.
Just because someone lives in America does NOT mean these people are on "easy street" and that there lives are neatly, carefully laid out by God because that is not the case.
I know a godly couple who are married over 30 years, they served God and equally served others including my husband and I. This man needs a lung transplant otherwise he will not make it.
The areas that Christians are being persecuted are the areas that mean the most to them like health, finances, families, friends, and the list goes on.
I feel compassion for people that are persecuted, I feel sorry for the people that think they can persecute and get away with it for this they will answer to God.

ANYONE who said that Christians deserve to be persecuted are ignorant. Not only do you not see the truth but you're also blind to the fact that Christians are being and have ALWAYS been persecuted. Secondly someone needs to define what you mean by christians. There is persecution in America against Christians every day. My husband is a street preacher and I have witnessed him and countless others arrested, shot at, maced, beat and spit on, run over with cars, etc for doing nothing more than stand on a sidewalk with the Bible and preaching. There is plenty of persecution going on against christians just like they did to Jesus Christ, it just depends on what kind of christian you are.

Interestingly enough, Christ told his followers that they would be hated and persecuted. At Matthew 24:9 he said "You will be objects of hatred by ALL the nations on account of my name."
True Christians are persecuted in different ways, on different levels and to different degrees. But true Christians are persecuted - of that there is no question. Indeed, considering what Christ said, what he experienced and what his followers experienced, if a professed Christian is not being persecuted - something is very wrong indeed.

"CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED"
Ever hear the phrase, "You can dish it out, but you can't take it"? That's what's happening when Fundamentalists use this statement. They have been on the attack for years now, trying to deny rights to homosexuals, trying to outlaw abortions, trying to keep women from obtaining equal rights, and trying to impose their own morals - many of them non-biblical - on the rest of society. Non-Fundamentalists are finally fighting back by speaking out against their campaigns, their media onslaughts, and their mistaken notions of truth, and the Fundamentalists don't like it very much. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. So when people of good conscience stand up for their rights, Fundamentalists cry foul - they claim they are being persecuted.
Fundamentalists see this "persecution" as biblical proof of being on God's side. It's not. Their so-called persecution is merely the rest of society defending itself from their attacks. Their so-called persecution is merely being called to the carpet for their actions. Their so-called persecution comes in the form of editorials that don't paint them in a glowing light or legislation that goes against their made-truths. If they can't get their schools to allow them to pray to their God during class time, they claim they are being attacked. What would happen if Buddhists and Muslims tried to get the same special rights? Fundamentalists would be beside themselves in anger.
This is not the persecution mentioned in the Bible. The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16). And yet these people have the gall to claim they are being persecuted in God's name. They are not. All they have to worry about is someone calling them bad names and denying them their request for favoritism.
My own 2 cents:
If you want persecution try being Pagan in a christian infested area.

I live in England, but I don't get the impression they're persecuted. I've never heard of anyone being disadvantaged by being a Christian in the USA.

They are only persecuted because alot turn out to be hypocrites. Not all...but alot that I know. It's a shame. Just don't be anything if you're going to be such a hypocrite. If you aren't like them...they try to convert you. If they can't...you are evil and a spawn of Satan. Or so they try to make you feel that way.

No group which comprises eighty percent of the country's population and casts the deciding votes in its elections has any business whining about persecution.
