1: Because the more you scratch, the more you'll itch.
2: Because (as someone else said), you could have caught yourself on something nasty and by scratching it could move the nastiness around and make it worse.
3: If it's your bum or that other area that's itchy, it's just not polite to scratch it!
4: Because you may have dirty finger nails (being that you will be in the woods) and that could also make it worse.

cuz if you brushed up against something nasty it will make it worse or cause it to spread. There are also some plants that make you swell up if you are scratched by their thorns.

If you are in the forest and you touch poison oak or poison ivey and then scratch it, it will spread and get worse.

You get Poison Ivy crap on your fingers, rub something else/TAKE A LEAK(ow)...and it spreads.
