Hi, I'm looking to meet people who are interested in certain things like the outdoors and conservation, environment. Are there any sites which cater to people with these interests?

I doubt it, I think that most dating sites are based on sex and looks.

Why not participate in person in this sort of group? Not specifically a "dating" group, but one involved in your interests, doing projects. You will get to know the people as they really are, not when they are putting on a "show" for a prospective date. You will get to see how they interact with others.
This is far more valuable than a specific "dating" site, or group.
Unfortunately, even the groups that seem the most honorable and ethical, when it comes to singles and dating, have the same problem ethical behaviour of individuals. So, it is better to see people as they really are and over a period of time, doing things that matter to you and to them, and interacting with others.

eHarmony is the only one I know of which asks an exhaustive amount of questions about your interests, preferences, ideas. It seems to work very well if you are able to invest the time it takes to do their quizzes.
