Your not English are you? If you were you would know that a great deal of the population HATE her with a vengence, she brought our country to our knees by making sure ALL British industries were stopped and sent abroad (making poor families worse off & pushing the hard, honest workers into an all time low not even matched during WW2) .

If there was ever such a thing a Thatcher Day (sorry not a nice thought) them i'm sure there would be a great many Brits burning pictures and idols of the mad old crone!

You really need to get you facts right before asking stupid questions. Everyone I know sees this woman as a HATE figure.

The only Margaret Thatcher Day will be the day that she dies.
She was fortunate to have no strong political opposition when she was in power, rather like Blair now.
Her policies not only caused great suffering to whole communities in the UK but she greatly weakened her own party by eliminating any rivals so that when they eventually found enough courage to get rid of her there was nobody of any stature left to repair the damage she had done.
She was in charge during the Falklands War which the UK won but it is now realised that her policy of cutting back the defences of the Falkland Islands had encouraged Argentina to sieze the moment to invade.

I dont know she brought this country back up from its knees , and any sensible person knows this ,she gets stick for going against the miners ,that was just brilliant forward planning , she knew coal was in the past and gas and electricity were the future , only people who can not see her genius are hard line labourites with no brains ,look at us now the whole world calls us little America ,its just a pity America aint paying £1 a litre at the pumps because they just wouldn't have it just like MRS THATCHER wouldn't have us walked all over either , hope your reading labourites ,your time has come

Typically having a day named after you is done posthumously (after you die). As Margaret Thatcher is still living, they haven't named a day after her. I'm not sure she was the greatest Prime Minister in the history of England, and she certainly wasn't loved by all.

I will always remember Maggie saying "The people must learn, if they have no pennies in their purses they can't buy sweeties" how condescending can you get??
And for all you Churchill lovers, I think he was just as bad as she was, wasn't he the one that led the police batton charge against women and children ?
War hero? the Brits proved what they thought of him when they kicked him out very soon after the war!
Apart from that , I could go on forever but I don't want you to think I am in any way biased!!!
Hope this helps??

She was a good prime minister, but wasn't loved by all. There is no Winston Churchill Day, and he was by far more popular than Madam Thatcher. There is no Bill Clinton day, Gerald Ford day, etc.etc. in US, and their positions are analogous to Thatchers, ie, elected heads of state.

No she was an evil biotch who was very bad to miners and any community, attacked lots of nurses, and beat up nice nippies so kids joined gangs instead...

But she made rich folk rich and poor folk poor. The rich control the papers so they made her sound good.

She was not and she was best mates with a guy called Pinnocent who was an evil dictator who ran a country called Chille in south America and he was no nasty he had people he did not like raped with dogs... Im serious and thats recorded fact... oh and the pope liked him too. Thats fact too.

We British don't do political worship, Your not going to get a day even if you change the world, but you might just get a statue made of you in your finest moment, then we let the pigeons do to it what the majority of the miners and anti poll tax rioters all wanted to do to her.

because she desstroyed the social welfare system, brought down wages and ended up being another Reagan

She is looked at as a dinosaur now who was all image and no beneficial substance. Plus, unlike America corporations dont rule over individuals there
