Most of the time when you are stressed out you take just about everything in an offensive way. It's just the way you feel in your head. Try asking the person to calm down a little. Talk in a gentle, calm voice. If they say they don't want to talk then simply say ok and let it be. Tell them that you will be willing to talk to them if they change their mind. If you want them to listen to something you have to say the question is WHY? What is so important that you have to tell them? If it was that important, and not just important in your mind, then they would proably listen.

I get stressed out alot. When I get stressed it is good for me to get away from the stress. (go for a walk, listen to music, go for a drive). Listening is a huge help when I am stressed. It is hard for me to calm down when I am stressed because I am so overwhelmed. I think this is a case by case situation but maybe just asking the person (or people) directly who you are refering to would be helpful in finding out how you can best help them when they are stressed.
