so hard to get on with? I've travelled the world over the years and found a lot of English (That is ENGLISH) women, the most difficult to get on with. Why do some of them have such large chips on their shoulders?

Hi down under. You are certainly lucky to have travelled the world. All good luck to you & long may you continue to do so. I wished I had the opportunity to do it. I must say though that your judgement is somewhat harsh. It's just been an unlucky spell I think. I don't consider myself hard to get on with! You want to try some good old Yorkshire hospitality. English women tend to be very intelligent. Of course, you know that. They have a chip on their shoulder to keep from being taken advantage of. But behind all that, is usually a great sense of humor just waiting to buckle you up in a ball with something really funny. If you had any idea how much English women love to laugh, you'd cut them a little more slack. The other thing about English women is that they all apply something other women in the world do not apply hardly at all: the right to change their minds. English women change their minds every thirty seconds. This is why the main course is fairly easy to order, but that dessert is usually a great quandary. You must come to English women with a completely open mind. Assume the intelligence thing I mentioned and just be receptive to them. English women love to lead. Is that so wrong - ? Now, I am 63 and an American over here in the states. I have never met an English woman who doesn't strike me as brilliant and as having a dynamite sense of humour. These are two fairly important qualities. All the other ones can be worked out if you are pleasant to be around and can tolerate letting them lead. And the best part? You can totally disagree with me. I love English women. They all look like their keeping the best secrets you could ever imagine. Good luck on your adventure with them! I am Japanese and had lived in the UK for 13 yrs. I've met English women who didn't even smile to me at the till in Tesco or ASDA. (But they could actually smile and chat to the others I noticed),I 've also met some nice ones in Cornwall who had given me a great support when I was in a bad situation. Wherever you go, there are nice ones and unfriendly ones. I think that you are just unlucky to have met those who might not like your approach...?

Today I met two of the cutest Japanese women I've ever met. After some chat-diddy-chat-chat they went their way and I went mine, no problems or big deal. Two of the politest, charming women I've ever met.
I know what you mean tho. SOME English (certainly the southern) women do tend to have their heads up their a$$es.

Because we are expected to do it all but at the same time face discrimination everyday. Seriously, not every guy is a pig but it just takes that one jerk at the office and then the neighbor and sometimes the husband to really T you off! Not to mention cleaning, cooking, and babysitting 24/7. How about some thanks.

Because over here we were told that you Aussies/Americans love the Accent.
So we tend to stay cool, guarded & a tiny bit demanding.
& anyway with " chips" comes sauce, think we're worth the effort.

that is a really good question!! Women in general have attitude but I think we don't like to appear weak and don't like feeling like we're being told what to do??
Even women don't understand women.
