The Bible says to tithe, I don't have a job but I still give God money because it's His in the first place. When I get a job I will pay my 10% and do what the Bible says. The Bible says that you will be blessed if you give. So I try to give to God. Yes God has given me more money to tithe back to Him. He supplies all my needs.

Monetary wise, it helps your church pay it's bills and staff.
Personally, it's a practical example of putting trust in God w/something near and dear to me ($$). It's also a way of me trusting that the people appointed to handling my tithe money (i.e.my church) will use it appropriately and God will deal with it in a fare and just manner if my money is ever misused by my church. This is separate than an offering (giving to a cause or help the needy which is something God likes me to do, too).
I only tithe out of trust (instead of tithing out of obligation). God promises me he will bless me w/whatever I freely give. I view the 10% tithing rule as a goal (i.e. God doesn't say that he only blesses those who tithe a minimum of 10%).

I tithe strictly because I realize that any Church has expenses such as gas, electric, water and sewer.
I'm also smart enough to know that the larger the Church is the more expensive it is to operate it.
I do not tithe because of Malachi 3:8 since that is actually under the law.
By the way I'm a Christian Pastor.

I tithe for several reasons.
It is easy in this society to place things BEFORE God. Money is an easy one to place so prominently in your life. I realized after several years of working, investing etc. that that is exactly what I had done. That was the day I began tithing. I don't give 10% to my parish though. They get some of it, but my prayer has led me to fund causes I feel do God's work as part of my tithe as well.
Service is also a part of that, but I am not rigid percentage wise with my time as I am with money.

Sorry, I don't believe in the Mosaic law of tithing... especially if the church you belong to doesn't OBVIOUSLY spread it around to those who really need it more.
If I were you I'd give your tithes DIRECTLY to some homeless person, or an orphan child, or a poor widow, or an unemployed person, or buy some medicine for the sick... And simply forget about it. But then again maybe that's just me.
Peace be with you!

My life is great and I have never tithed. I also don't use the church for anything though. Argue this if you want, but I do not believe you can buy blessings with money. And enough of my money already goes to other people, taxes, insurance, healthcare, etc. I cannot afford to pay anything that I will not either have something to show for it or not forced to pay.

You tithe because ask you to give your ten percent. He just wants you to help his cause of spreading the word, so that more people might be saved. Let's face it , they still charge the church a light bill, the building you worship in was probably financed through the bank, water bill, all the programs you have, and at last your pastor, who has to support his family some how. You still get charged even though it's a church. Hope this helped.

I tithe because it is a way of thanking God for His blessings. I'm satisfied with the results.

Churches are a great business! Jesus spoke of being humble, the commandments say that "Thou shalt not covet", but that means nothing for cult leaders. And their sheep just keep handing the dough.
I'll tithe the Church handsomely after the Pope, a priest or any other cult leader has given me head. Not before.

tithing is showing obediance. Because I believe that Christ died for me and showed His love for me by buying me (a sinner, we are all born in sin and shapped in eniquity) with the price of His blood on the cross the least I can do for Him is be obediant. All the riches are His. Read Malachi it says also that if you don't Tithe your robbing God. If he owns all the riches do you think He needs your money, no! but it's all about obedience to see if you'll obey Him. For, do you think in the new Heaven, God will have people in it that won't obey Him and be Obediant to Him. If He didn't mind that then my question to you is WHY DID GOD KICK LUCIFER OUT OF HEAVEN? He was only being disobediant. :)
