Yahoo deleted my last question on this topic, I think because I actually quoted Wikopedia and they must see that as a copyright violation; however, I would see it as Fair Use. Of course, it's their site and they can delete anything they want.

I see what you're saying. I wouldn't read too much into it, though. Perhaps Rev 18 broadly refers to the triumph of God over all who oppose Him. It certainly can't be applied UNIQUELY to the situation in Iraq.

Consider the military base Nagasaki, that "the earth was lightened" (18:1) by the Little Boy atomic bomb.

Consider also that there's no equivalent to 18:21, that a great stone will be cast into the sea. Also, that while violence cast down the site of Babylon, the Ishtar Gate, which once guarded the entrance to the city, now sits in Berlin at the Pergamon Museum.
