In my opinion, as a Mormon, I would say it is a sin against life and as close to murder as any other act is going to get. Having said that, I would also point out that there is more to this than meets the eye. I especially like Mother Theresa's views on the subject - link included (she was obviously Catholic). I believe that in the case of rape or incest that abortion would be justified, but only after serious consideration and prayer. If the mother's life were in danger, that is another valid consideration. I don't mean if finances or social life or public reputation were in danger. I mean the actual physical well-being of a mother. Now I also believe in repentance, and that if someone has had an abortion, forgiveness is possible in this life. That does not mean people should think they can do it over and over and over again. It is best to live the law of chastity and avoid temptation. Move to another state or city or job if you have to, in my opinion.

Yes absolutly, but you can call it a slaughter since millions are being "aborted" as we speak, in this country alone. Most women have an abortion, not when the baby is a bunch of cells, but when it is fully formed baby. And it is called murder. They hold the baby down and smother it, or they break it's neck. I'm sorry if anyone is uncomfortable reading this, would it be better if I called it a nice name. Insted of slauter, lets call it "abortion".

Murder is murder, you can give it a pleasent name if you want to but that doesn't change the fact.

Evolutionist teach that humans are just animals and so by their thinking it is ok to save the trees and kill children.

One story I heard, that this mountain lion attacked and killed 3 small children. A bunch of PETA people protested and wanted to save the "poor" animal's life. But the parkranger shot and killed it. Later the parkranger found the lion's cubs. These PETA people were infuriated and made a card for the cubs, and held a cerimony for the mountain lion. They never made a card to the parrents of the 3 dead children, they never said anything about it, PETA was actually mad at the parrents because they wanted the mountain lion put down. PETA mailed them a letter that called them animal haters.

In the athiestic, evolutionary, mother earth loving, mind: "who cares about human beings being murdered?"

In the news yesterday, a man that smothered a 3 year old child to death on purpose, after only one year in prison he is being let free, in my area. Libral judges are lowering the punishment for breaking the law, according to them If you murder 21 people, steal $10,000, murder a child, hey thats only 5 years in jail tops. If you say your really sorry we might lower that sentence for you.

Murderers get away without as much a slap on the wrist and a "no no, mussent do" from the judge.

How sick can a person get, how immoral can a nation become.

We can all thank the ACLU and the theory of evolution for the immoral society that we have to day.

I am a Christain, for too long Christians have either not fought immorality hard enough or have allowed it to grow and run freely. We need to stand up, and do the right thing. No matter what the godless librals think or say.

We must take a stand if we want our nation to survive. The downfall of all civilizations has mostly been caused by immorality of some sort. Take Rome for example.

Let us pray for our nation and vote for rightious Christians if we want a consevative morral nation.

In God we trust.

Hope this has been an eye opener for you.

abortion is not murder. Murder is the willful taking of one human's life by another human. I've seen pictures, and the fetus might look vaguely human, but physiologically a fetus is more like a salamander than a human. I know that sounds harsh, but there's also a degree to which deep down you know that it's true.

Neurologically, the child isn't complete until it's a year old, and continues developing for about 25 years. So while it's still in the womb, it's certainly not a developed human. It's a part of our natural development for the brain to be undeveloped at birth because otherwise the head could never have fit through the opening.

I asked the question "What makes humans distinct from other animals?" I received many interesting answers: The awareness that we are different from other animals, the ability to make rational decisions, the ability to suppress our animal nature, the ability to conceptualize good and evil, large brains, the ability to create art, the ability to question one's existence, speech, self improvement, and so on. At a glance, it's fairly obvious that a fetus does not have any of these qualities. In doing further research, I came across this website which I strongly recommend: http://7e.devbio.com/article.php?id=162

A fetus has the potential of becoming human, but being human is a very special thing and a fetus isn't there yet. Being human is more than just a matter of our genetic make-up. It's about the way we think. Without the way we think, we are like any other animal.

Given that most people believe in the existence of a soul, It becomes an issue to consider when a person gets a soul. If you believe that only humans have souls, then the fetus doesn't have one because it's not yet human. It has the potential to become human, but it's not there yet. If you believe that all creatures have souls, then it goes to wherever souls go. If you believe in Karma, then that life served a purpose which it was there to do and can karmically celebrate that it's life accomplished what it was destined to accomplish.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone to think that I'm advocating killing babies. Babies are cute and respond well to people, kinda like puppies, and I am also opposed to killing puppies. In fact I have often been very supportive of all things child related and puppy related. But when it comes right down to it, and we consider the neural biology, certain facts become apparent. But I want to make it very clear that I am in no way advocating infanticide, which is much nicer than the bible which doesn't even mention infanticide despite the fact that it was commonly practiced at the time. In fact, until about a hundred years ago, I can't recall this ever having been much of an issue ever in the history of the world. But now, as infant mortality rates are at an all time low, and population is soaring out of control, now is the time in human evolution when people decide to stand up and say that abortion is wrong.

Christians claim to take truth from the bible, and the bible makes no reference to abortion (which according to Wikipedia did exist in ancient times http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion ) or even infanticide. In fact the closest thing to a reference is in Exodus 21:22 to the punishment if a man does violence to a pregnant woman causing her to lose the child, which is different from the punishment for murder as described in Exodus 21:12, which clearly indicates that the basis for popular religious thought for the Judeo-Christian-Muslim traditions did not intend for the killing of a fetus to be regarded as murder. But this is a religious view point, and not a secular viewpoint, so it out not have any influence over the law.

A lot of Christians look to the commandment, "Thou Shalt Not Murder," However, there is a great deal of subjectivity to how the bible deals with killing and the nature of murder. Given that it was practiced commonly by the ancient people for whom the ancient bible was new (the people who best know the original intent of the scriptures) coupled with abortion not being mentioned anywhere in the bible, I'm of the opinion that the bible did not intend for abortion to be viewed as murder

At what age should a child have the same rights as you or anyone here? When do you think life starts? Is euthanasia murder?
Taking an innocent life is murder. God is going to avenge the lives of the millions of innocent children that have been sacrificed in the name of pro-choice. It is an abomination on our nation.

According to some people it is ok to kill a human because they are still developing until they are 25 years old.

Dear Eden,

In spite of what society says, yes, abortion is murder. You can verify this if you read Jeremiah 1:1-5 and Psalm 58:1-4. You see, it does not matter what the majority states--It is what God (the Lord Jesus Christ says... Every single person is accountable to God, that is has to answer for what he/ she has done in this life. But I do not want you to think that I am prideful.....You see we are all rebellious, sinners. We do not want to do things God's way--which is the right way. We are selfish and self-seeking! The only hope for man is that the Lord may have mercy on an individual and save them. Man plays no part in salvation--he or she is simply the recipient of a gracious, merciful God (Jesus Christ). I do not have room to explain but if you check out: www.familyradio.com you'll find answers to your questions. I hope this will help you.

In a way, Yes. If you believe that a fetus is a living person at conception. I personally believe that it takes 2-3 weeks for a fetus to become a living person. I can't explain that, it just is. I also believe that abortion is wrong. Abortion is killing a fetus is taking away a childs chance at life. I'm not sure which one I can believe, but what ever I feel, that's what it is. I don't know what one you want to believe, Yes, or no, but whatever you say, must be true for yourself...

It's not about murder or that you should keep your legs closed.Have you heard of Birth Control? That is not considered murder.Or the morning after.Do you know why?Because it's private and only those who know about it are involved.Only when you go to a clinic does it become murder. So everyone out there who is taking the pill and saying abortion is illegal need to look to their own.A woman's right to choose is a private thing just like any type of birth control!Having or not having a child is a private thing.Last time I looked out the window i was still in America not China where they control your birth rate.

Wrongly worded question. Most against abortion are in favor of the death penalty. Most of them are intolerant Christians, who worship Jesus but are quick to hate everyone who attacks their opinion.

Back to abortion: What's crueler? To stop the development of an embryo without feelings? Or to raise a child inside a broken family, turning the kid into a junkie, a bum, a criminal?? What if a girl gets raped? Does she have to bear the byproduct of a savage attack? What if the baby is hideously malformed? Do we have the right to offer her/him a disgracious life? What if the mother risks death should she go on with her pregnancy? What if the mother lives in the poorest starvation-stricken lands of Africa?

The lame argument against is that embryos have a soul. Too much wrong has been done in the name of God.

To me it is. Even a tiny cell is alive right? So if you take cells that are put together that start to devide, even if there isn't a heartbeat yet, your still killing life. If you are talking about a baby, fetus, zygot, whatever stage, it is still murder. By the 8th day of division, there is a heartbeat, or cells forming as a heart that has a rythym. So, if that's the case, then wouldn't that be murder? To me it is.

Yup. Killing [ANY LIVING being, creature or plant] transgresses The Law.

According to man's interpretation, 'murder' is premeditated homicide performed with a motive, means and method. So, yes, it qualifies as such by definition...

But existing man-made laws DO ALLOW ABORTIONS to take place regardless of the moral code.
