Get a big pot of water and heat it to boiling. Put in broccoli that has been cut up into smaller chunks. Maybe add salt to the water if you want. Cover the pot and let it cook for a few minutes checking it every so often. Cook until desired tenderness. Drain the water, and maybe add a little cheese for taste. Enjoy!

As some have pointed out, you are better off steaming your broccoli. Boiling broccoli will cook most of the nutritients out and leave you broccoli mushy.
If you don't have one, go to your local kitchen supply store and get a collapsable basket steamer. If you don't know what that is, one of the sales associates should.
Once you have your steamer, find a sauce pan that has a lid and that the steamer will easily fit into. Put about an inch of water in the sauce pan, the water should not touch the bottom of the steamer. Salt the water, put the steamer in the pan, put the lid on the pan and bring it to a boil.
You will need to have your broccoli cut in similar sized pieces, this will ensure even cooking. Once the water in the pan is boiling (you should be able to hear it), put the broccoli in and replace the lid. It is important that you keep the steam inside the pan. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes. The broccoli should be firm, but tender.
When the broccoli is finished cooking, carefully remove it from the sauce pan (it's hot). You should be able to simply lift the steamer basket out of the pan, but be careful not to let it tip. You can also use a spoon or a pair of tonges.
To serve the broccoli, you could put a little butter and salt and petter on it. Or maybe butter with a little lemon. You could even try a vinegarette or another salad dressing like blue cheese or ranch. I sometimes like to just put a little mayonaise on it. You will want to check it for seasoning regardless, a little salt and/or pepper. The salt in the water will not have done anything to season the broccoli, since the broccoli was never in that water; the purpose of salting the water is to raise the boiling point so that you are cooking the broccoli at a higher temperature.

I would always boil the water first and place the nicely cut broccoli into the pot. I always cover my pot for the full value of the steam.There should be some rigidity to it. If it is too soft, it will lose some of its vitamin/mineral content. I would let it steam for about five minutes. Then according to taste, I must put a little parmesan cheese on it from the shaker, add a light amount of garlic, butter and what ever flavorings I require. This sounds heavenly. Peace and God Bless.

place the broccoli in about a half inch of water. You want to steam it not boil it. Add a little butter, accent and crushed red pepper for taste, no salt needed because of the butter. Cook covered until it gets a little tender or about 5 minutes after the water comes to a boil. Remove from heat and leave it covered until it is ready to serve.

Don't boil it. Steam it.
Steaming instead of boiling will help to keep more vitamins and nutrients in the broccoli.
Steam it for like 7-8 mins so its still a little crunchy in the middle. Squeeze a little lime juice on it and, viola, awesome broccoli

better than boiling is steaming broccoli better vitamin retention.
you need a steaming tray . put 1-2 inches of water in pot ( you can flavor the water Wine , sugar , Garlic etc, put in steaming tray add broken up broccoli season with butter before boiling water cover bring to boil and let steam for 10 minutes !!!

It's really quite simple...
Place your broccoli in a pot with only about 1/2 cup of water. (the purpose is to steam, not boil).
Cover and allow to cook for approx. 5 minutes or however tender you like your broccoli.
Drain water and EAT UP! I love to make a cheese sauce to pour over the broccoli. Just melt a little velvetta and milk (to thin) and pour over. YUM! hope I helped.

if you boil broccoli for too long, it's gonna get really limp and gross. since you could eat it raw, do that. if you don't like it that way, boil water, then cut up broccoli into smaller pieces and submerge it in the water, put some salt in it if you'd like. close the lid and get out the broccoli after about a minute or so. this is the way i like it the best. it's still vivid green and fresh.

Put the brocolli in the pot and fill the pot with water to the top of the brocolli. Boil until tender. You can also steam the brocolli by placing a few tablespoons of water in corning ware with the brocolli, cover and microwave for 5 minutes.

Pretty simple, boil the water, put the broccoli in, take it out when it is bright green (only about 2 minutes). It should be tender but firm.
