I recently ask a question about being a liberal and someone's response re-enforced why I was asking the question. This person said that liberals were cowards, that we believed in letting everything slide and didn't have the guts to stand up for what was right or wrong.

FYI, it is liberals that u see in 99% of protest across the globe standing up for what they believe in.

So, my question is exactly who are we to tell anyone else what is right or wrong for them as long as their actions are within the confinements of the law? Ppl should just focus on their own families and how they want to raise their own children and get out of other ppl's families.

This country was made great because of separation of religion and state that gives rights to all ppl no matter their belief. I can't believe the ignorace of ppl who really believe teaching tolerance is detremental.

As long as a person is not breaking the law, who has the right to judge & dicate to them about their lifestyle/beliefs?

You are exactly right! No one has a right to tell anyone else how to live if they are not breaking the law. And people should stay out of other people's families.

It is so weird how so many people don't know their history enough to realize while the forefathers did use religion to some degree to form our government, at the same time, they were wise enough to realize they needed to be very specific about specifying separation between the two.

That is exactly why this country is great: because by separating religion and state has allowed us to progress and slowly change errors in the original formation of our government... like when it used to be the law that blacks were not even considered citizens because the forefathers declared them as not human beings but property.

That other person said something about other kids influencing her kids.. sorry but too bad.. that is life in a free country. If you don't like it then move to a dictatorship or put your child in religious school. BUT don't try to tell another family how to raise their kids because THEIR kids also get influenced by people's kids who teach the opposite of what they believe.

As long as all families are tax-paying citizens and obey the laws they have every right to live the way they want to and teach their children their beliefs. I have no clue why some people think it is OK for to IMPOSE their beliefs on other people just because they don't agree with them.

Listen, that is how the country operates. We all have the right to say what we want... liberals can protest and conservatives can call them cowards (typically called cowards for their attitudes toward skipping out on war and other tough negotiations).

And how someone else raises their children affects you and your children. Your children interact with them and learn from them.

AND, BTW, this country was not made great due to separation of church and state... this country was made great because of the religious influence on our founders and the fact that they recognized ALL religions as being important, not just one. If our country was founded so anti-religious, why does our money say "In God We Trust"? Why were we all "created equal"? And why are we "one nation under God"?

There is nothing in any of the founding documents of this nation that says "separation of church and state". It only says that Congress shall enact NO religion, meaning they cannot FORCE you to believe in one particular view. The phrase "separation of church and state" came from private letters written by Thomas Jefferson a decade AFTER our founding.

As for who has the right to judge? We all do. And we all DO judge on a daily basis. And you know what? I feel perfectly comfortable in judging people who raise their children in a crappy manner and conduct their life in a way that is only a detriment to the community. And you know what else? It is my RIGHT to do so.
