I am 41 and have prepared and eaten eggs several times in my life and have not once gotten a double yolk(the spelling doesn't even look right to me).
Is that odd?Is it a sign of something to come besides siamese chickens?
I think it would probably inspire me to buy a lotto ticket if I ever did........
Just wondering.

From a biological stand point it just means that the ovums are in one shell. That means that the chicks will be twins. that actually cute when i think about it, twin chicks. anyways, i have never seen one. But now that I know they exist, I really want to see one.

I've had lots of them. My mum bought a box of 24 eggs and more then half of them were double yolks. She then bought another box when those finished and the same thing happened. If that farmer had let those eggs hatched he would have been so happy to see a million twin chicks! (or does one die because there isn't enough space in an egg). My mum hasn't bought any since from the same store though.

I wish I thought about the lotto ticket as I might have won if their lucky... I've never bought a lotto ticket or a scratch card so it would have been funny to win first time!

I am 38 and do allot of cooking / baking. I have done cooking for 10 -12 somewhat regularly. I have probably had double yolks in eggs about eight or ten times in my life.

In cooking, I always use jumbo eggs, which means about one in every thirty eggs will be a double-yolker. I have seen two triple-yolkers in the past thirty years. They were just as good as single-yolkers. And yes, it is spelt "yolk".
