Am sending a picture of a cat inside a pool table (!) to the hotel before we go there in August. I speak no Greek except 'efharisto' and 'parakolo'! Will write the letter in English but would like to add this one phrase in Greek (or Cretan, if there is a 'local' way of saying things).

If it possible to put it in the reply, I would like it in Greek characters as well as an 'english' version (I am sure they do not spell the words phonetically!)

Thanks!

Thanks to all of you - I very much appreciate it.

I have gone for the last one who answered purely because he says he is Greek!

(ps the website does not have greek on it)

well, the most common thing to say is "ta leme ton avgousto" (τα λέμε τον αύγουστο-will talk to you in august) or tha sas do ton avgousto (θα σας δω το αύγουστο-see you in august)...choose which one you like even though the first one is the most usual..oh! there is no cretan by the way, they use some local words and a different accent but there are no dialects in greece!

Tha se do ton Avgousto. Θα σε δω τον Αύγουστο. If you will see one person. Tha sas do ton Augousto. Θα σας δω τον Αύγουστο. If you are going to see more than one person or if you are talking to someone in a formal and polite way.

or Ta leme ton Avgousto. Τα λέμε τον Αύγουστο.(This is not the exact translation but it sounds better I think) It means talk to you in August

Also it is parakalo. Παρακαλώ

I am afraid Mindy has made a mistake. She wrote "Will see you (prular) in August". The order of the words is a bit wrong and grammaticaly is wrong but close enough.

"Σας δείτε τον Αύγουστο"

Good luck speaking that, it's very hard to speak Greek unless you hear someone tell you, but that's how you write it out.
