He is 14 month's old. I do have the brush and paste. I haven't really bothered with it to much. Let me know what you guys have done. Thank you. P.S - He only has 6 teeth so far.

Start brushing twice a day as soon as the teeth start coming in.

Get a soft bristled brush and use a tiny amount of toothpaste. Try the kids toothpaste that is safe if swallowed. Adult toothpaste can cause bone damage if too much is swallowed(the flouride is unsafe in large quantities) Brush for a minute and then let him play and brush (he will probably chew on it) for another minute.

Also, dentists now recommend the first dental appointment at 1 year of age.

you should start brushing the teeth as soon as the first tooth erupts. he should see a dentist by the time he turns 1 year old. i have a 20 month old. he has 10 teeth now. we brush once or twice a day depending on whether he cooperates or not. because toddlers are impatient and temperamental they don't always get a good, thorough brushing so it is especially to do it consistently to avoid "baby bottle tooth decay" and to start teaching good oral care habits. i know 2-year-olds with rotten teeth already.

According to my dental hygentist, you should start brushing as soon as the child has teeth, if not before. Brushing teeth is not just for healthy teeth, but for good oral hygiene. By now you definitely should be brushing his teeth at least twice a day.

I started brushing my baby's teeth as soon as she got teeth, I've already taken her to a dentist and she's 18 months old. Even though there baby teeth they need taken care of too. I would suggest that you brush their teeth after they eat.

I have heard from dentists that you should wipe their gums with a clean wash cloth daily when they do not have teeth. And after they have their first tooth you brush after each meal. That is what I did when they were younger. Now my children are old enough to brush their teeth by themselves.

My sister did not do this and she was very regretful later on when her children were older.

I started when my son got his first tooth...7 months. I use special baby toothpaste so he can swallow it. He LOVES it! He is 10 1/2 months old and we do it every morning. I don't do it before bed because he gets really happy and excited by it. I'll begin brushing before bed as well as in the morning when he's 12-18 months. Right now it's just too much fun to have and then try to put him into bed.

Good luck!

I started with my kids at 6mo. I would use a soft wash cloth to wipe off teeth twice a day. At 12 mo I brushed with soft brush and kiddy paste, 18mo first trip to the dentist.

As soon as he has teeth it's time to brush them. They should be cleaned at least in the morning and in the evening. My sister in law brushed my neice's teeth anytime she ate or drank anything that wasn't water. My kids had their teeth brushed at least twice a day until they could do it themselves. (usually about preschool age)

You might want to take him to the dentist and have them (his teeth) looked at.

Teeth should have been brushed as soon as the 1st tooth came, even before that actually, with a tooth and gum cleanser, wiping his gums, he can brush now, just be sure its not fluoridated toothpaste, or if it is, he spits, fluoride can harmful to a child.
